Don't be surprised when it arrives without the GPU and a stick of ram removed. I purchased from VIP outlet and learned the hard way. It IS NOT returnable to Walmart and Walmart does not support purchases from 3rd party shippers.

I mentioned this in the last thread, but it probably should be said here again. VIPOutlet has 2 SKUs for these HP refurbs that they seemingly get mixed up often (based on the number of people who got the other one by mistake). It happened to me as well. I ordered one recently and paid $399. Instead of receiving the TG01-2003W, they sent me the TG01-0023W with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a GTX 1650 Super [walmart.com].

Aside from that, it came with a serviceable keyboard and mouse. The case had 2 scratches on it. Booted it up and updated to Windows 11.

Why are there so many of these refurb machines?

Older machines miners yanked the GPU from and they're selling the unit as-is with integrated graphics. Still, the 5600g is going for $129 now - be hard to make a new system with OS, case, MB and RAM for this price. Main limitation is the proprietary MB and PSU limiting expansion with a newer GPU.

Probably a dumb question, is the 5500 same as 5500 xt?

I have this same system but with
Win10 pro
512gb Samsung pro ssd upgraded
16gb 3200mhz hp memory
Nvidia GeForce RTX 1070ti
For sale $600 on fleabay

PM me if interested

FYI you must use hp or 1.2v memory. I tried a normal crucial 3200mhz kit and it downclocked memory to 2666mhz. This is common with HP prebuilts.

Overall a nice compact desktop but the m.2 nvme slot is only gen 3 pciex2 so max read write speed is 1600 mb/s

I got the $399 deal earlier for a couple of PCs for my kids for Christmas. I plan on adding 8 GB ram to both. It's been a while since I've upgraded or built a PC. Any recommendations on specific RAM for this setup?

FWIW, I bought the variant with the gtx 1650, June '21. Mine would consistently crash with memory errors until it would no longer boot.

HP warrantied the desktop and sent me a new one after I sent them the broken one.

While the bad news was that I received a bad one. The good news is that it was warrantied under HP.

Reviews seem split on Walmart's website. Either you get a lemon, or a great value PC. If a lemon, hope it breaks in the first 90 days.
