Looks identical to the Best Buy deal for $550 except this has a 6800H vs 5600H on the other one. And a 512 SSD vs 256. Is that really worth $180 more?

Go with a non-Chinese brand. They don't have any backdoors or spy chips.
Just curious, where do you think many motherboards are manufactured?

Got any recommendations? I've seen some Gigabytes on sale occasionally, but they seem to have an issue here and there or a feature I don't like and that makes me hesitant. I don't like how Asus doesn't put a numpad on a lot of their gaming laptops.

Unless you need the CPU horsepower or this updated 2022 model has drastic improvements on the hardware side, I would say no.

I read your articles. The one that actually mentions Lenovo is from Windows 8 era.. Also, it mentions a bunch of crap that most companies have on their laptops.. Power users would uninstall or remove any of that bloatware anyways.

I have two lenovo laptops, and love them. They have dang good specs for the price. Not to mention 500nit displays with G-SYNC and 144hz.. Most other companies won't have all of those specs.

I would recommend Dell or HP gaming laptops.

Wait until Black Friday for lower prices and better deals on them, or possibly next year if you want the RTX 4000 series which have a BIG performance boost.
And they are not made in China?

I remember ordering an HP laptop in Staples and received shipment directly from China 🤣

Over best buy deal, this one has better CPU, DDR5, USB C has DP and PD, 4th gen NVME. Idk about screen and other features. It may be that the components on the BB deal are better matched to this graphics card and this one would be better matched to a higher end GPU (along with 16gb ram).
