only $25 more for the free music device makes your deal not really that hot.
This is a better deal. The music device is junk

Is it better to buy a twinkly tree or just a set of lights and buy an unlit tree? What are the pros ?

Very cool -- what specific part of the scene features these lights (if any)?
I do not have Twinkly lights in my display… yet. Just ordered 4 boxes of these for some smaller projects I want to do. What you see in the display are all 12mm WS2811 pixels, 26,000 of them. This year's show will have over 40,000. I haven't seen a good deal on Twinkly's so never had the inclination to get any until now. We are always looking for off-the-shelf lights that can be hacked or made to use with our shows.

It doesn't work well in my experince. And you only need one if you really want to try it out. The magic is in the app. Great lights

That's your xlight display? Killer.

Any thoughts on +W vs not? I heard it's worth the extra $$.

Also wondering why people are down on the music add-on thingy, it seems like a cool feature.
Thanks. I love doing it. +W is nice for pure white instead of RGB 100% blended white which looks off. But +W adds to the cost of the strings and are mostly strips and not pixels that have it. If controlling through xLights you also have to have 4 channels per light instead of 3, so a few less per output port, but not really a big deal because most setups use 50% or less of its capability anyway in favor of less power injection or spreading out with more controllers/receivers. What you see in my show is 4 years of learning and growing, and my 3rd Christmas show. If you can find one of these shows in your city, it's worth seeing and watching. You can watch mine for 3 hours with no repeating songs - an hour of Christmas, an hour of Disney, and an hour of "other" songs.

Are these good for outdoor use?

Michaels says these are indoor and outdoor but all the comments here are about indoor use.

I have mine hanging on the house year round in the pnw for the past 2.5 years. Absolutely no problems. Just keep the outlet and controller protected

Thanks! Bought 2. I don't know anything about Christmas lights or twinkly. $300 seems outrageous to my ignorant mind, but hopefully it will be worth it.

Ditto what the last guy said. I have a 400 set and a 600 set programmed together in the same tree. Not the most extreme weather in Southern California, but as long as you keep the adapter, plug, and wifi controller in a waterproof box, they should last well.
