Prices will continue to fall. AMD is launching new cards in two weeks. Something like a Radeon 7700 will likely have better performance for a similar cost. Regardless, it will put more pressure on Nvidia to continue to lower prices. The used market is just beginning to crater. 3090s will likely be $500 to $600 by the end of the year. Regardless, it will be this price for BF or less. I would hold off to see what the BF deals are.
I still see a ton of idiots on facebook marketplace trying to gouge people for used cards. Even fully built mining rigs asking for crazy money. I'm hoping to see the used market actually start to come down to reasonable asks. People are still too delusional.

The 8GB VRAM is a limitation in today's games with 4K. It has the power just not the space for textures.
3070 isn't meant for 4k gaming. It is a 1440 rig. Even 3080 will struggle with 4k, besides eSports titles.

I just got a rtx 3070 for $300 used on Facebook. Even if prices continue to drop I am happy gaming at 1440p. I have a pixio px275h, and the rtx 3070 can saturate its 95hz. It also depends on game titles. Some are more demanding than others. I have a huge backlog to wade through, and intensive graphics don't make a game good. I won't see a reason to upgrade for generations!

trying my hardest to find a good deal on a 3080 or, preferred, a 3090.
I check facebook marketplace every single night to see what Used cards have been put up. There are now a lot of 3080s in the $600-700 range but of questionable care, or lacking a box, etc. I am hoping I find a good one soon

Same. Trying to find a 3080 for $500 but the lowest I could find successfully was $600. This was for the highly reputable EVGA FTW3 and the 12 GB model. If I could get that to 500 I think I'd go for it. I would rather put $600 (if I was going to) into a 3090... I have a 12700k so this would be a beast of a machine for a long time with a 3090

This hurts to see Frown during pandemic I had to pay close to $1000 Frown
You did not HAVE to pay close to $1,000. You CHOSE to pay close to $1,000. It's impatient people like you who drove the price of these, and game consoles, up for everyone else, because scalpers knew there were people willing to pay. All you had to do was wait. I've had a "new" case sitting in the box for over 2 years, because I bought it right when the pandemic started and I refused to pay anything more than these things are worth. No one actually needs video games. We just want them.

Actually tempting. Worth the upgrade from a 2070 super?

Looks to be a good upgrade but I would wait till next week when AMD releases their new cards. There is a reason these cards are all dropping. They want to reduce inventory before the new Nvidia and AMD cards arrive.

Here's a useful spreadsheet put together by the youtuber, PC Builder. He's listed reasonable prices for GPUs used and new.

How do you know their situation? Lots of people working from home HAD to upgrade their home PCs. I really wanted to upgrade mine but was able to make due, but it sure would have been nice if the prices weren't ridiculous. It wasn't all about games.
