I'd advise against this setup. Only because you have to remove top items to get the box below. I have the rolling toolbox which I keep the least used tools in, then the three drawer, then the large box (if I bring it) then the crate. I only have to breakdown the packout once one site and when leaving.
For a stationary storage setup, there is no reason to get anything Packout. Just get a large metal toolbox with drawers and a pegboard if you want anything hanging.
It's 29% off. Same as the current deal 90 off 300 on packout buy more save more

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I've got a M12 collection for my home improvement needs. I'm by no means a professional but I've been struggling to figure out the best way to store my tools. Right now my stuff is scattered on my basement table. Some tools are in Milwaukee bags. What are your opinions on investing in the Packout collection for my use case? Should I just get some pegboards?

I prefer the packout for organization and bringing everything with me for a project vs going back/forth for tools or bits/attachments

This is the setup I got at almost the same price two years ago at a sale. I am no professional and have about 12 DeWalt 20v tools and accessories that I store in then.

It really just depends on how you plan to use your tools. Will you be taking them to jobs at different locations? Maybe helping family members with their projects? Then go for the Packout. Are they just for home use? Then pegboard will be a cheaper option and keep the tools more accessible. You might also check out French cleats for tool storage. They look slick and are super flexible!

I did a slat wall and added metal inserts. Works ok. If you are into woodworking a French cleat system people like to do as a project. I hate woodworking.

But isnt french cleat just a beveled cut of wood as a wall hook and a beveled cut for the hanger?
Seems like an exceptionally simple hanging system

as a dump-all its expensive for just the house.

if you are traveling like to a job site or even to like a relatives house frequently, then it could be worth it.

it all about how you set it up. I use it for work, its tough, it works.

but I also use it at home. i have a box with my drill and drill bits. I have another box with just screws and anchors. I have another box with plumbing supplies. Another box has my caulk and caulking guns. the box with my paint brushes also has my putty knives and spackle. that way if I have a project to do, I grab the appropriate boxes, and take it to where I need to go at the house. I am not running around remembering where I put my drill bits, because they're always with my drill.

The only packout thats worth the coin is the drawered boxes, others are rather overpriced. I keep one box on the bottom for large items rarely used and 2 (2) drawered boxes on top with an organizer on top of all. Hold enough for nearly all jobs. Sometime I throw a vac on top.

The dolly utility cart is also very valuable, it holds everything much better and can be mounted.

I was able to get in on that ACE buy one get one free deal earlier this year. Grabbed a cart base for 139.99 and got the large toolbox for free. This seems like a decent deal still, but it depends on how you value the medium box.

I find the medium box more useful than the large one for stuff I use regularly. The large toolbox is just deep enough that you can lose track of stuff in it without good space management (I use Kaizen inserts). Either way, these things are less of an organizer and more of a lifestyle, lol. It's nice to see them "on sale" again.
