There's a quick mode. Fuzzy logic always takes longer, it's part of why the rice tends to come out fluffier. If you want it to come out quickly, just run that, it turns off fuzzy logic.

I've had this for about a month now. It's been good. I've had tiger and zojirushi before and there are some differences.

My friends older tiger model had a handy little condensation catcher. My mom's zojirushi (also from costco and the same size and features as this) has a cap that catches the condensation as well. This does not.

The reviews saying that it shoots water out are mostly from people who didn't read the directions; you have to clean the back, where the steam condensation drips down. It takes two seconds.

It's been good, does a solid job. It doesn't have many fancy features or bells and whistles, but at this price point, I wouldn't expect that.

Unlike some of its peers, it comes with an interesting steam tray that you can use to cook items with the steam from the rice. I wouldn't expect much from it; this is a fairly small rice cooker and the cooking plate is too small for more than one serving. But it comes with a nice recipe book.

I think the only notable issue I've had is with the quality of the anodized coating on the exterior of the rice pot. It was cracked and flaking when I received it. This doesn't affect the functionality or longevity, but it was disappointing. Still, this is an incredibly good price for this tier of rice cooker, and especially for one made in japan.

The only other concern I've had with it is that its keep warm function isn't the best. It's still quite good, but my older Tiger could keep the rice warm for much longer. This has a two part issue due to the lack of a condensation catcher, and because the keep warm function on this keeps the rice steaming hot, vs others that keep it at a milder lower temp. The steam collects on the lid and drops down into the rice, which makes the top too wet, and the extra heat makes the bottom too dry. Still, no real issues as long as you don't keep it over 2 days.

The other alternative (if you prefer korean rice) is Cuckoo, which Costco is also selling, for a bit more than this. Cuckoos tend to have more features. How good those features are is a tossup though; most are more for show than not.

I have this, and ended up bought the larger version. The reason is not about the size, it's about the time to finish cooking rice. This thing takes way to long to finish when it should be fast. My larger one only take 15 mins to finish, this thing well, over 30 mins.

I always get a wet wipe (like the baby wipes) and wipe it off after each cook, it comes off easily, you can take out the black piece on the top to clean it out as well. Takes like 2mins for the cleaning for me.

How do you make rice just like the Chinese restaurants with that starchy taste and a bit sticky? I have a Zoji rice maker that I just started using and I can't get it to taste like that. What type of rice do you use, how much water per cup, and which setting? Thanks.

water:rice ratio figured out.
This. I have instapot and I use it for rice twice daily. Pot in pot method 1:2 rice to warer ration. 8 mins manual normal pressure.

I have this from an earlier deal. However, it makes a mess...a lot of oveflowing/sprayed hot water/steam all over the counter. I have to leave a couple of paper towels on the spout so it does not spray all over... still need to clean up the mess. Not sure which rice cover does not do this however.

Thank you. I called my nearest store in Boston Heights Ohio and the lady told me that they don't carry it. I am now wondering if she knows what she is talking about. I gave here the items number 1081890, and she said they don't have it. I was thinking about picking up 2 of these for xmas gifts, but if they are hard to keep clean, it might now be a good choice. I have a large Zojirushi tha.t I have had for over 20 years. It's a little tricky to clean the interior of the lid

Cannot speak to this brand/model.

Was using an Instant Pot since it can cook everything and I was happy with 15 min rice but usually a bit wet.
Got the "cheap" Zojirushi rice cooker on a Kohl's deal. White rice took one hour. Literally most perfect white rice I've ever had.
Again idk about Tiger but I can say the purpose built rice cookers can be life changing

I want to say Jasmine rice is what is used in Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants. At least in SoCal. Also we dont measure by cups for the water. We use the finger method. Stick you finger at the top of the rice (after washing), water needs to go up to the first notch/knuckle. That's the perfect amount of water. Long fingers /short fingers, still perfect amount of water. Then put it in the machine, Jasmine/white rice setting or quick cook setting. Wait 30-40mins, bam, good rice.

I use to have a Tiger brand (made in japan model). It made good rice. I now use an induction Zojirushi model. Perfect rice every time. Ive never had rice made in an instant pot nor pressure cooker, so rice made in less than 30 mins is foreign to me. Good rice takes 30mins+.

Just make sure to get the Made in Japan models.

Yes but that didn't feel clean enough for us. My wife is obsessed with putting everything in the dishwasher. If it can't go in there we don't use it.
Thank you for the added details.
Sounds like a household issue rather than a rice cooker issue.

I have been using this for about a year. Nothing really wrong with it, but unless they change the design where the steam water goes and the non removale inside lid, I will be going back to Zojirushi next time.

I've had this unit for months. I don't have a ton of experience with rice cookers but it seems great so far. I've used it for sticky white rice and for brown rice and it always comes out perfect. Plus it has an optional steamer tray so you can throw some veggies in there to steam with the rice. Seems great for $80.
One issue with this model is the inner top lid not removable for washing.
