I didn't mention anything about made in China. I said it was being sold by a Chinese direct marketing company. They dump low quality goods on any market that will buy them. There is a huge difference between a company that cares about their reputation and product guarantees and one that just wants to get rich quick and run.

Made in China for Chinese company is different from made in China for an American company, genius. iPhone is made in China, VIVO is made in China but they have different quality control standards.

You are correct. Battery Minder is another good brand that has desulfate capability for long term float charging as well.

In relation to your Amazon question, although Amazon certainly sells good quality products (from reputable manufacturers), it appears as if they'll promote and sell just about anything!

You're 100% correct!...and the insults from someone that has so little knowledge about this are inappropriate!
....not to mention that, when it comes to products such as these (where safety is essential), focusing mostly (if not completely) on the price and assuming that it's "all the same" can be a risky proposition!

This seems like a great value from a reputable brand.

A quick search shows they've been selling that unit since at least 2018

For this price, to get a unit that can maintain a battery with set levels to charge and stop charging is a great value. I'm getting this so my snow plow will start when I need it. Here's the charging details that I found helpful:

To trickle charge over the winter, do I just select the "car symbol" and leave it connected? The battery will be removed and stored in the basement.

Answer: Hello MD, please select the "Snow Symbol" for a float charging over the winter.

The charging rate changes from different voltage range of your battery. Details as below:
10.5-13.6V: 5A
13.7-14.0V: 3A
14.1-14.4V: 0.8A
14.5-14.7V: 0.1A
≥14.8V: Auto shutdown and swtich to a sleep mode

When the voltage of your battery drops to less than 12.8V, the car battery charger will auto-awake and trickle charge (0.8A) your battery to 14.4V, then pulse charge (0.1A) to 100% full again. Loop charging in this way.

The battery charger is certificated by ETL, and is equipped with multi-protection, which will bring you a hassle-free charging with a long-time connection. Please feel free to tell us if you still have any questions

I understand your point and the general issue with fly by night companies, however, in this case it seems ampeak has reasonable reviews, a broad product line and has been around a while. With that in mind I feel like they are vested in their reputation.

For my particular application I tend to charge my lead acid batteries outside and usually out of the vehicle. I have a farm and probably around 20 pieces of equipment that use a battery to start and quite a few other 12v systems around the property.

The pros for me, price, 5A charging current mode, multimode charging, IP65.
I purchased one to keep at the barn to supplement my battery minder, battery tender, noco and dumb chargers I already have.
