Some nice upgrades using Luke a LSS Mods. Reinforced fire box & heat shield. Check out Tom Horsman at YouTube to see how to use a gravity smoker with full splits. If not for the anticipated CharGriller update, this would be a must buy. Still a great deal.
ETA: Had to escalate to a supervisor and got a "one time exception". I think it helped to be friendly and explain that I wanted to avoid them having to schedule a pickup to return (since they couldn't cancel the shipment).

You get what you pay for. I've had the smaller model for 2 years with no serious issues. But it's definitely not a lifetime grill.

It's a POS smoker? Lol…did a side by side with a pellet grill smoking a pork shoulder and there was no comparison in the smoke ring…anything I wanted to smoke has had PLENTY of smoke

I've owned the smaller version for 2 years now. I don't think it can be beat when talking about quality of smoked food it puts out. I will admit it's not the thickest sheet metal and some of the electronics (door open sensors) leave a bit to be desired. That said, it is far from a POS in my experience. I don't expect to be needing to replace this grill anytime in the next 3-5 years.
Edit: in the time it took me to finish this post, the suckers have sold out hahaha
From what I've heard this masterbuilt is a great proof of concept that gets a lot closer to stick burner flavor, but the cheaper materials, poor quality and reliability of the electronics, and the downright bad app make it tough to want to pay the price of admission.
So again I'll ask does anyone know if there are any other higher quality makers with similar units? I'm happy to pay double or triple for a well made version of this with long lasting electronics and a good app. Does that exist?
