Paying 8 more dollars for the VR is kinda crappy. This VR version is a shortened cable which makes it basically unusable for anything, but a headset.
As for audio quality... You can get better sounding for 30 bucks like KBear KS1s that are 14 bucks right now on Amazon after $5 clipped coupon.

1) If something happens and the cord is damaged, you can replace the cord instead of the entire IEM
2) You can swap the cord to whatever length you want and not be beholden to how short the integrated one is here.
