I bought a similar model (without the screen) in 2017 and it completely died on me a few months back. Even though the compressor has a 10-year warranty, its only warranted for parts, not labor. (the coils only have a 5 year warranty so I barely made the cutoff there). There weren't any good sales at the time so we chose to have it repaired. All in all the repair cost about $900, took about 6 weeks and required 4 service calls. The technician told me this is a common issue on the LG refrigerator. Also told me Samsung has its own set of problems, particularly with in-door ice-makers. I will never ever buy an LG refrigerator again.

The power usage on this fridge seems high... I have a larger LG from 2016-2017, and its estimated power usage is only 563kWh:

This one is estimated at 708kWh and is 2 cubic feet smaller.

Sorry to hear. Mine also stopped working about couple months back. It is 2015 French door model. LG factory tech came and replace 4 different parts : compressor, evaporator coil, condenser and fan. Total cost was $375 which cover labor. I guess I'm lucky having great and skillful tech. It took 2 hours to complete the job. He said my refrigerator pretty much 80% new. Normal life expectancy is about 7-8 years. Vacuum the back end once a year to extend the life.

Whirlpool is usually very good. Kenmore isn't a manufacturer, they are just a rebadged brand made by multiple manufacturers. [wikipedia.org] Whirlpool is one of them.
I have whirlpool French door refrigerator in my other house. Already over 10 years and still going strong. However, I had couple issues previously with the ice maker and water dispenser. Both items I replaced myself. About medium level of difficulty. With appliances, as long as the faulty parts can be replaced easily, I would say a good buy. With LG, it involves the main engine. you have no choice but pay for service tech to repair.

I don't know why consumers buy LG or Samsung appliances! They are both electronics companies that don't have the background or reputation with appliances like GE, Maytag, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Kenmore, etc. Would you buy a fridge from Sony or Apple if they came out with one?
...
LOL I would buy Sony or Apple appliances if they come with 10-year bumper-to-bumper warranty Smilie

This is 100% true. I have a Samsung and I'm on my 3rd ice maker. I've had it a little over 10 years and the original one lasted about 6 years and now they go out about every 2 years. I ended up just buying a commercial ice machine that makes 100 lbs. of ice every day. I essentially have unlimited ice and can fill up ice bags so I don't have to get them at the gas station. So yeah, Samsung ice machine are junk. They even ice themselves and you have to take it out and thaw it several times a year. Annoying.

For everyone that has or is having issues with their LG compressor failing, within 5 years of purchase. If you call LG direct they will extend the full parts and labor warranty for a total of 5 years. (for most models) I just went through it and had mine fixed within two weeks. I think this was there way of saving face with a class action law suit.

The current wisdom is to get inside water and ice maker in the freezer. Don't get anything with in door features.

A better SD is to get Lowe's to price match and use their credit card to get 18 months no interest

https://www.lowes.com/pd/LG-Insta...1000507575

I did a similar SD 2 years ago, with a Best Buy price match to Costco, saved me $1500 on an LG Refrigerator

FYI - They will complain about the 35% discount being offered, then you get the Manager to override

I had the compressor fail a couple years ago on my LG refrigerator. It was replaced quickly under warranty, though I've only had it since Feb 2016.

Though there are complaints in this thread and I've personally had mine fail on me relatively early in its projected life, LG french door refrigerators are still the most reliable out there. I guess everything is just crap these days.

All this worry about compressor failures, but nobody's asked about the really important stuff.
Sure, it's got WiFi (and we all know how important that is for a refrigerator), but is it running Windows 11?

We just had to buy all new appliances due to a kitchen fire. I was all over the place with what to buy so I figured I would call the people who would know the best, appliance repair shops. I talked with 3 different shops and ALL 3 said the same thing, do not but an LG or Samsung, whatever you do.

I bought this fridge. Looks nice, but the ice machine clumps every week no matter what I do; very horrible engineering.

Also there is only one fan that circulated air. So your ice will always smell and taste like fish. Again poor design
