Amazon has right now Huntsman w/ linear switches [amazon.com] (I want to get something not THAT loud for her, but since she has Razer setup been looking for Razer keyboard) for $99. Curious if we gonna get it cheaper close to BF? Any ideas?
Pros:
Really solid keyboard. RGB is bright and very customizable. Keys are responsive and have the snappy mechanical feel without the noise.
Razer Synapse has been amazing lately. I can setup custom color schemes and have the change depending on the game I am playing. Several games have Razer Synapse compatibility, and the keyboard's color scheme will actually change to reflect what is happening in-game. For example, when playing Outriders, the keyboard will pulse when downed and in response to other actions. I have a friend who plays Euro Truck Simulator and his keyboard changes color based on actions in the game. The turn signals, beacons, and parking brake keys also change color to show when they are engaged. There are also several third-party peripherals that work with Razer Synapse. For example, the lighting on my Seagate Firecada hard drive is also controlled by it, as well as my case fans through the Razer RGB hub.
The dedicated media keys really come in handy, and the wrist rest is really comfortable. I have had the keyboard for almost two years, and the wrist rest is still in great condition.
The keycaps can be replaced. Razer offers a few choices, and there are several third-party keycaps that are compatible.
Cons:
To fully utilize this keyboard, you will need to install Razer Synapse, which some people have a love-hate, mostly-hate relationship with. Years ago, Synapse used to be a real pain. It would update every week, sometimes multiple times a week. It would crash and conflict with other software. It was a nightmare. That being said over the last year or maybe two, it has improved a ton and is much more stable. I do not recommend installing the other bloatware Razer tries to offer with Synapse though.
For those who care, the alternate characters are not backlit. So on the 1 key, only the 1 is illuminated but the ! mark is just printed on the key in white. For those who are not good at typing, this can make locating these symbols difficult.
There are no dedicated macro keys. Synapse allows you to remap keys so I did not find this to be that big of an issue, but for those who are hardcore MMO players, this might not be the keyboard for you.
Tech support is okay. They communicate mostly through emails and send you steps to follow to troubleshoot. Razer is based overseas, so sometimes you end up having to rephrase things because they are lost in translation, but it's not too bad. They do respond fairly quickly, but most of the time you receive your response later in the day or even in the middle of the night due to the time difference. RMA is pretty standard, they provide a shipping label, and you mail off the item. They also offer express replacement which requires you to purchase a new product at full price, they then refund you when they receive the defective product. I have used both methods and have not had any issues, but the lack of phone support might not be for everyone.
Not a razer fan and love my Logitech 513 (all 3 of them lol), but my kiddo has full razer setup and currently using Blackwidow TE, which is start givin' up. And it's loud. Based on reviews linear is way less noisy, but can be mushy on typing?
