This seems like a really good deal for a 2TB NVMe with DRAM from a known brand.

I wonder if it's worth waiting for something better on Black Friday.

This is discontinued drive from Intel that sold their business to SK Hynix. This is old stock and is PCIE gen 3. I'm expecting PCIE gen 4 drives to fall close to this price soonish, maybe even Black Friday.

So I would personally wait as I think the resellers are eager to dump this old stock.

It's backorder now... And they wouldn't let me use PayPal, so I'm passing.

All Gen 3 drives are old stock. Smilie

There are a lot of use cases for Gen 3 drives and Gen 4 drives are going to be more expensive.

This is as good a QLC drive as it will get in Gen 3 and better than most crap being sold labeled by Team, Silicon Power, etc., at a good price with really decent performance.

Works just fine for storage and mostly read applications or even small random read write operations because of the really good hybrid pSLC cache. This is a well engineered product with good warranty.

The only thing to avoid is to have a lot of writes when it is getting full. The performance of all drives suffer when close to full but QLC drives can get very slow. Having it filled and mostly doing reads is just fine for game storage and media storage.

For the inevitable troll question, no this will not work for PS5. Smilie

An upgrade from 512 GB to 2 TB is $600. So this is untrue and has nothing to do with this deal.
256GB to 2TB is $740, so not that far off for 2TB. It's relevant because it illustrates how the price compares to a measure in the market.

Everything isn't so literal Spock 😉

NV2 is TLC and all around better preformer.

Assuming they actually fulfill the backorder, is this compatible with a PS5?

Not sure about this. NV2 has no DRAM and less TWB than Intel 670p
