You can always get the lowest prices (EG $45 for 3 months etc), you are just required to prepay for 12 months. Which You can make your own payment plan on if you have savings (just take the $ out of your savings upfront, and pay your savings account back over the year in this case take out 15X12=180, then pay your savings account back 15 a month, and you will be back to square one at the end of the yr). That's kind of how I do it. Also, I BELIEVE the Mint family plan which is not explained well at all, basically allows you to pay 3 months at a time instead of 12 months and still get the lowest rates. Granted it requires multiple lines. Of course, prepaying has it's own negatives, it locks you in for X time which sort of defeats the big advantage of being unlocked/prepaid which is flexibility. Also there is time value of money (altho with these small amounts and timeframe, arguably not a big deal). All in all may very well be well worth it. For me two big reason I like Mint over my previous carrier Red Pocket GSMA is, Mint gives my One Plus 8T 5G where RP limited me to 4G (this is a Tmobile vs ATT thing). And I get better speeds on Mint. Typically 40-50 mbps on RP, I'm seeing often over 100 mbps since switching to Mint. The better speeds arent due to 4G vs 5G as I've tested 5G phones on RP GSMA and they got the same speed as 4G in my area, but it's a thing nonetheless. The other thing is I feel like Mint is a larger company with a better website and better CS. The downside is RP had better coverage in one specific area important to me, but I can live with this.
