You can actually use the cell calls if you so desire since you have unlimited calls with Mint number.
In voice setting use carrier only instead of wifi/mobile data. All your calls will be forward to from your Mint number without using (a lot of ) data-just the data for handshake. This is the magic from Grand Central - Google voice beginning. Consolidated all of your phones into one number.
People prefer data since the calls is in HD without dropping signal at home/office wifi.
This was a big deal when carriers made money from calls so calls was bill by the minute, or fraction of the minute. Nowadays most plans have unlimited call even $5 plan.
