DON'T buy from mint - best buy has the same deal and you can activate past 45 days but mint is really strict about the activation expiring after 45. You've been warned.

I switched to mint from metro in November. I'd say the service is equal, 5g sucked on both carriers . I keep my 5g phone set to lte and get much better service on lte than on 5g . I did the same on metro. I will point out I have 2 lines iPhone se2 lte phone and se3 5g phone. I believe my se3 is faster in lte than my se2. I actually warrantied /replaced my se3 bc I thought I got a bad new phone. I figured out trial and error. 5g is just terrible and it was not the phone.

Got this deal through Best Buy, $45 plus $3.75 Sales Tax, Fees & Surcharges total $48.75 for 3 month service. ( plus the 3 free months ) no CC required and right away you get a text message confirming the 3 extra months, plus it shows on the mint app. Giving mint a try currently on ATT.

One advantage to the best buy plans is I've personally activated ones I purchased up to 6 or 9 months later without issue...they didn't pull the "expire in 45 days" buying directly from mint will get you. When a good deal comes along I usually stock up since I use "disposable" new phone numbers in an area code I don't even live in. I give out my google voice # and have that forward to the disposable ones. I also blacklist any incoming calls from the area code of the disposable phone number since they are direct dials not using my google voice. An appl like "yet another call blocker" on f-droid.org (free opensource apps) can even prevent the phone from ringing.

That sounds pretty slick. Your sims with 3 free months from Best Buy you store away, I assume you do nothing with until your ready to activate ? How hard would it be to switch from mint to google voice ? Do you suffer bad call quality or and other disadvantages forwarding google to mint ?

I have been using Google voice on iPhone for about 5 years and have used forwarding to various carriers such as att, Mint, tello, ting etc. There is no difference in call quality because of GV outside of what may come from network to begin with.

If I buy from bestbuy to avoid fees can I activate in 40 days and still get the bonus 3 months? Current plan doesn't run out for 40 days.
If it helps, I had stocked onto BB deal Mint sim from sometime early 2021 and activated that last week and still got 3+3 months.
I got that sim in a deal for $30+tax for 10GB plan. Now I get to enjoy that for 6 months, making it $5/month for 10gb

Damn you guys know all the tips & tricks 😅 any idea if I can pair these 6 months of service with the pixel7 deal, like would it void the 60 days of continuing service to in order to get discount. Esim with Google Fi and maybe Psim for only data.

You have to choose a phone deal (discount on phone and 6 months free) or a service deal (3 months free). Both are only for new customers and require port-in. So no you can't get both.

3+3 months is cheaper on eBay, $30 instead of $45 here. I got two of them and both worked great

Always new customers only. I've been with them for 4+ years now and am due to renew in March. Not sure if I will or jump to someone else who will give me a better deal for being "new". The service has been fine, although there was a period of a few months where the cell coverage itself around my neighborhood was pretty bad. Kept dropping cals or the people I was talking to couldn't hear me. Even switching phones didn't work. Seems to have cleared up now.

Works really well in Los Angeles. I have the $15 plan. Usually around WIFI, so I never end up using all 4GB.

HOWEVER,
international traveling was awful with mintmobile. Data is incredibly expensive and doesn't really work well.

Mint is new to me, I never heard of it before a couple months ago. I signed up in November. I'm considering this I'm just curious why you have not tried the Best Buy/ google voice hack I been reading this thread and several people talk about it, I don't think there lying . If you been with mint for years I'm sure you've seen the hack before. What has discouraged you from trying it ? The 3 free months ends in a few days .
