I got the email yesterday with the $45 shop card. Paid with Visa, didn't turn off auto-renewal until I received the email. Great deal, ty again OP

Costco support chat confirmed the code is valid and that you will receive a shop card, however because she didn't work in membership she wasn't able to see how much it was for (membership dept is closed at the moment). I also found this page: https://clarkdeals.com/deal/costc...embership/

Which states the same as the OP, but also gives an expiry date of Jan 1 2023.

It's under the payment window

"If you are purchasing this membership with a Visa card, you agree that your Costco membership fee will automatically renew at the membership price you've selected and be charged to your selected credit card annually on the first day of your renewal month until you choose a different form of payment or cancel your Costco membership. If you are using a different form of payment, you can set up Auto Renew after the purchase."

Once you get shop card, immediately log back in and turn OFF auto renew. That flags system to send you out marketing communication (normally on monthly flyer) to renew with $20 off for 2024 via in store.

I signed up for the gold card with the promo code. Picked up my card this afternoon. The lady at the desk told me new members only get the shop card bonus with the executive membership? Is this correct?

It accepted the code and took the penny off, but does it definitely have to be a Visa? I didn't see that detail until after I ordered and used a MasterCard, but it shows as auto-renew enabled. Should I switch the main credit card in my account to a Visa or did I mess up?

nope pretty similar! some like Costco better for their return policy, food courts, and travel and insurance services. younger generation like sams scan&go better which easily saves half hr from Costco crowds. pricing similar slightly higher with Costco when coupon not available. Gas is cheaper @ both stations.
Sams : don't need a physical card at all! you can use phone to scan inside store as well as at gas stations.

yes as long as you yourself didn't have a membership as s primary in the last 18 months. if not apply and then add her as a household member

I have been using both for several years, many Costco products (Kirkland) have superior quality by far vs Sam's (Member's Mark). It's worth having both imo.
