Once you get shop card, immediately log back in and turn OFF auto renew. That flags system to send you out marketing communication (normally on monthly flyer) to renew with $20 off for 2024 via in store.

I guess I'm asking how I can stack the code with a membership I'm giving to someone. It looks like signup online using the code results in creation of a Costco.com account.
I was already a member of Sam's Club and went for this deal since I thought they'd have more variety for me to choose from and hopefully comparable or better pricing. After browsing through the entire warehouse I found that Costco's pricing was noticeably higher on most common items and they didn't have enough different items of interest to me to justify having both memberships. So I went back to the customer service desk and cancelled my membership where they issued me a full refund.

just trying to squeeze the most I can out of this deal because most of the years when we had Costco membership, we ended up not using it much because of time constraints mostly, but really like some of the selections they have
the other guy in this thread got lucky and got a $5 credit but I got turned down. YMMV. but if I were you I'd just go ahead with this for the $45 off.
