Like the other guy said. It has an oil reservoir up right by the chain that you keep oil in. It self lubricates. Other than its pretty maintenence free unless the chain gets dull or comes off. My chain came pretty loose but it's easy to adjust with a screwdriver.

Tempting to add it to the Ryobi collection but I'm still using a B&D 18V NiCd version that still works great. I still use that system for the Alligator Lopper. I'm surprised Ryobi hasn't cloned that tool yet. I think HD / Ryobi inflated the list price of this too. I had it in my spreadsheet at $99 MSRP.

Have one and did quite of brushing back on our fence rows along fields. Little flimsy when it's all the way out but nothing to be worried about breaking or anything. Overall would buy again easily. Much lighter than the stihl gas powered our farm operation owns. My dad kinda laughed at me when I bought it thinking it wouldn't touch the stihl. Now he asks to borrow mine to throw on the back of his side by side to do trimming. It does use a fair amount of chain oil tho. Better too much than not enough

What's the maintenance of this tool?
I've never used a pole saw but I am having a few branches stick out and hitting my porch. I want to trim those out. Being battery operated it's a good investment IMO.

Do we have to oil this while in operation?

Is there a difference in the 40V and 18V versions since it's the tool only?

There's a reservoir to put chain oil in. You fill it and refill the lubricating oil

How easy to clear debri from getting inside? That's the problem on my current one. Lots of wood chips get inside and jam it after quite a few uses. Or it would cause the chain to dislodge . It's a pain to take apart.

Like the other guy said. It has an oil reservoir up right by the chain that you keep oil in. It self lubricates. Other than its pretty maintenence free unless the chain gets dull or comes off. My chain came pretty loose but it's easy to adjust with a screwdriver.

Mine has been pretty clean so far. I suppose after cutting for a while inspect it and maybe wipe some excess chips off if need be.

Thanks...I will consider it since it's maintenance free (relatively)
