Nothing stopping you, but it will show as currently financed until the 2 years are up, or if you pay it off early. If you choose to pay it off early, the bill credits on your account will continue for the full 2 years, but you'll be able to sell a truly paid off phone.

Just know that the device cannot be unlocked until it has been on the T-Mobile network for 40 days.

You have to be a T-Mobile postpaid customer. Login to your account and click on Shop. You'll see these options.

that's odd, i traded in 2 phones, they promised 800 per phone, but in fact only 650. once i notice the mistake i give them a call. the manager more than happen to give me the 300 missing trade in right away....

Same here for 2 iPhone trade-ins. Called over 5 times, each with them promising it would be resolved and then never hearing back. Not doing any T-Mobile deals that depend on them crediting back the money via statements.
I might start a class suit. I will keep you posted.

I wonder how I can proceed with the trade-in as my VERY old Motorala phone is not in the model dropdown list, so the 'continue' button is not enabled. Does anyone have experience dealing with this issue?

thanks

My wife is using one as a gaming phone (additional account for games she already play), and I'm using another for an extra line and for testing (I'm a network engineer). I paid off the rest and sold them, and am getting monthly credit deducted off my bill.
Do you still get monthly credit after you paid off the phones? seems got different answer from different people, some people said the credit will stop after the phone paid off.

I still get monthly credits after paying off the phones. If you check the T-Mobile sub on Reddit there are several posts explaining this. As long as you wait to pay off the phone AFTER the first credit has shown up on a bill, you'll be fine.

Yes. Bill credits are the new contracts. If you cancel service, say bye to your bill credit

On postpaid, do you have to select an existing line/phone number to attach the phone and its 24 months of credits to? Or are the 24 months of credits some sort of free-floating thing attached at the account level and not the line level?

I got 3 lines already with free phones and EIP monthly credits. I have a 4th line but I'll wait for a good deal on a flagship before I tie up that line.
