I must have been unlucky because I bought a Metabo drill from Lowes 2 years ago and the transmission went out after 2 months of very light use. The transmission was replaced under warranty and I got another 6 months of very light occasional use. After the replacement transmission I gave up on it, I bought a brushless Craftsman drill when they went on clearance a year ago.

I also bought a Metabo chop saw 3ish years ago and haven't had any issues.
To expand on my previous posting and why I didn't go back and continue to have my drill warrantied again.

The warranty center is an hour round trip, plus the additional time for the warranty center to do the paperwork. The warranty center also charged me a $125 refundable deposit that they will keep if they determine that the damage was not a manufacturer failure. It took about 3 months for them to receive the parts and repair the drill and I received my deposit back when I picked it up.

Since this was my only battery Metabo tool, it was not worth my time and effort plus having $125 tied up for another 3 months or longer to go through the warranty process again. The Craftsman brushless drill was on clearance for $50 or $60 and it was worth the cost not to go though the warranty hassle again especially since the 2 transmissions failed doing non frequent, light duty household duties.

I probably could have also opted for mail in repair but at the time it was not worth the time a effort especially since the brushless Craftsman was available on clearance at my local Lowes at the time.
Really like Metabo tools. Premium tools at Ryobi prices.

I have several brands of impact drivers. The Metabo Triple Hammer is the best one plus it is ip56 water and dust certified. They would probably cost more and be a bigger seller but they do not have the advertising budgets that Dewalt and Milwaukee have.

How does this compare to Milwaukee m18 fuel or Makita 18v brushless?
