3rd gen doesn't have a 32gb model and the remotes are usb c now instead of lightning.
**3rd gen 64gb/wifi is $129
**3rd gen 128gb/wifi+ethernet is $149.
If you NEED ethernet (because you have crappy wifi OR use it at locations with secured wifi networks as my company does) and want it cheap, then get 2nd gen 32gb.
32gb is plenty of space unless you are downloading movies and games and at $100, it's a good price. I can't see buying the 2nd gen 64gb for much of anything and expect to see that price fall in the coming weeks.
