Trying to decide between this laptop and the one featured in this deal: https://slickdeals.net/f/16140919-asus-rog-strix-g15-ae-gaming-laptop-ryzen-9-5980hx-15-6-512gb-ssd-rx-6800m-1099-99-f-s?page=6

Leaning toward the Alienware for the faster screen refresh rate and DLSS capability. Any thoughts?

The Ryzeb 9 and 6800 combo for performance is supposed to be pretty amazing. I'd personally do that. Also not a fan of refurbished, and especially not Dell due their customer service and QC. But just my 2 cents. Definitely check out the performance with the right ram of the advantage edition stuff though.

Either you work for Dell or it's opposite day and we missed the memo.

ASUS is more powerful and last at least twice as long on battery, DELL is nicer and faster screen

don't know the specifics for hardware and upgrades

I've purchase more than 2 dozen refurb dells, everything from the consumer line to the business line to a couple of Alienwares, all worked perfectly fine. Plus they all come with standard warranty anyway.

How much more powerful are we talking? Battery life isn't a concern for me and I'd only be using either laptop with the built-in display (which reduces performance to some extent on the Asus due to no MUX switch). With that in mind, does anybody have an idea of what kind of performance difference there is between the 2 laptops? If it's only like 5-10%, I'll probably go with the Alienware.

this is one of the closest, good, comparisons you can find.... but it is made with the same RAM and both on extrenal screens
it varies a lot by game, so check which ones you would play

Not to be "that guy" but if something isn't even 20% off, is it really a deal?

I bought 2 of these laptops brand new and both of them had fan issues, could just be some crazy bad luck but buyers beware

Based on reviews, it sounds like the ram and wifi chip aren't the greatest. If you replace the ram with better quality, you see about a 10% boost in gaming. You get a bigger jump in wifi speeds with a better card. Besides that, it's a really good machine for the price. I am still considering buying it myself but waiting for Black Friday to see if there are any crazier deals
