I have one also. Saves me 8% on purchases so why not.

I do. It only pays off if you have a lot to purchase. Like 10k to offset the lack of welcome bonus or any rewards for a 7% tax state. So YMMV and ppl are not all stupid.

Some California cities such as mine (10.25%) pay 10% or more tax so Payboo is better only for these locations which are of course a small minority.

This is a bit better than payboo for me. High tax CA is 7.75%. This is 10% so you get extra 2.25% compared to payboo. Also you should get 3% amex online retailer when buying the gift card so technically it is 5.25%. Unfortunately I don't see it on my amex. : (

Not everyone has b and h CC...

Every purchase is unique in amount and sales tax it'll incur and will probably benefit a large amount of people given that the savings rate here is a maximum of 10% which is well above the average sales tax rate

Agreed, only useful for people that rarely shop at B&H, otherwise all intelligent people will have had the PayBoo card. It's 8.8% sales tax for WA, so buying a gift card would save me 1.2% or $3 on $250. Plus 250 AMEX points worth about $2.50 (even though TPG says $5.00). So about $5.50 savings on a $250 gift card purchase that you need to save/track.

Luke warm deal at best. Had this on two AMEX Platinum cards. Thanks OP for the effort. I'll give this a TU even though not sure I'll go through the effort for $11 savings on a $500 purchase.
