1) Only specific manufacturers have adopted HDR10+ because it requires a royalty. Also, in addition to having an HDR10+ capable TV, and the 2022 ATV, you also have to be watching a channel that offers programming in HDR10+. That's a lot of "ifs," that I'm guessing apply to a not a huge % of TV streamers.
2) A15 processor is only going to be "felt" when, or I should say, if, playing iTunes games. The A12 in the 2021 ATV remains plenty fast to quickly scroll up and down, open and load channel apps. But also, so many ATV channel apps are just poorly built it just won't matter in this aspect.
3) "a few years down the road" is irrelevant in 2022. In a 2-3 years ATV will either have been replaced and heavily discounted. Who knows, an M1 version might be out with WiFI 6E or 7. There simply is no need to rush in to buy one now if you can't take advantage of the A15 or HDR 10+ today.
4) "The new box is also lighter and runs cooler." Honestly the "lighter" part is surely a gag on Apple's part. Weight is irrelevant to the ATV -- whether it weights 7.5oz or 15oz who cares. It's a set top box not a tablet or phone. And I've never experienced ATV getting so hot that it had to shut down or that the fan was so noisy it interfered with my viewing. Heck, I didn't even realize it had a fan until the 2022 was featured as fan-less. And honestly, I'd rather have a small, silent cooling fan to move around air.
5) As others have noted the "low end" 2022 model strips out Ethernet and Thread support. If you want that it's another $30 or so.
Edit: ok I don't mind the thumbs down and I never address it, but I sort of want to understand in this case. Are other people not having this issue? Are people just so complacent that they are ok with having to juggle remotes? How do you handle it?
All the large US retailers and most of the online electronics specialty stores have these in stock or available for pre-order with estimated shipping in the next week or so.
Also don't forget that the 4k 3rd gen 64GB model is Wifi only.... have to move up to the 4k 3rd Gen 128GB model to get wired ethernet.

I have the apple tv 2nd gen with older aluminum remote. Samsung 4K tv from like 2019(?). There are Samsung settings to allow for input wake up and auto select. And maybe an apple tv setting to send signal.

Wanted to mention that the 64GB model does NOT have an ethernet port. You can only connect via Wi-Fi. If you want ethernet, go with the 128GB.
