Been bouncing down to this price on and off for a bit now. As far as I can tell, the Apple November releases are off and rumor is that means more likely March for the next Macbook Pro models. No, I'm not counting 13" M2 Macbook Pro as that is just basically an M2 Air with a fan and in a bigger case.

I had been holding out hope for a new line to be released this year but it looks like that is not happening so I think I am going to jump on this or the 16" M1 Pro, which can also be found for $400 off multiple places. It is possible we see a little better deal somewhere for BF, but I think this might be the deal for this year. $400 off now, but the next line will probably see a price bump, so it could end up being $500-$600 less than a new M2 14" Macbook Pro when it is available.

I will add that I think an Amazon Prime credit card could get 5% back on this which is another $80+ depending on model..

The two promotions ran concurrently for a short while, allowing a 2x$1599 -$500 gift card deal. But you're right, this seems to be the best price outside of that deal.

So, my 2011 Macbook Air died yesterday...I did a lot of epic Slickdealing with it for over a decade.

I think I am looking for a Macbook Pro M1 Pro that can support Thunderbolt 4 dual-displays.

Guessing this is the one!

Now to look for some way to get some cashback or a steeper discount...

Should add that the Microcenter one isn't just additional RAM and storage, but also the top tier M1 Max versus the M1 Pro on the one in this deal.

Same as the Costco deal from a few days ago that came with the $500 cash card for $3100, except it's the 14" versus the 16". Exactly what I'm looking for but sadly the closest MC to me, which is actually pretty far, is OOS.

All the M1 Pro CPUs are faster than the M2, and have more bandwidth and ports. (Though this model has the 8-core model which isn't that much faster the M2.)

The M2 CPU is slightly more battery efficient, but the display is what eats battery life. And as you note, the display on the Macbook Pro is better.
