Depends what you already have. I started with just a 16 gauge finish nailer, which is a good "all-arounder". If I was going to do it again, I'd probably get a 15 gauge finish nailer and an 18 gauge brad nailer. That'll handle 95% of what you'll need I would think.

For trim work inside, 15 or 16 gauge won't make much difference. You can use either on baseboard and chair rail as well as crown moulding. I prefer 15 gauge for door casing and try to use fewer fasteners. Like somebody else said, if you're using it for anything more structural, like nailing a door frame in the rough out, 15 gauge would be much better. I also used 15 when fastening siding to a shed I built.

Anything smaller, like accents on the chair rail or boxing walls, and I'll use 18 gauge brads.

The Milwaukee nailers are awesome for their convenience, but they definitely aren't as consistent as pneumatic nailers as far as driving depth, and they are much more tiring to use. They have a lot more kick than a pneumatic nailer and weigh a lot more. The air powered ones are just much smoother overall.

Saw these yesterday in Willow Grove, PA. I'm not in the market or have a need but seemed like a good deal for those that may be.

Can confirm they are $239 here in Connecticut as well... It is shown in the black Friday flyer for $239 as well. I bought one a few days ago using a $25 off $150 purchase coupon, so $214 plus tax. Seems to be an in store only price, as the website shows $299 still.

The old guy I talked to scanned the barcode and said "We have 5 but I have to go dig for 'em".

Was going to get the 16ga gen 2 this holiday season for trimming out our basement while remodeling. Is the 15ga a good option instead?

Yes. I think of 15 gauge as the standard for a trim gun. If you have that, and a 18 gauge brad gun for smaller trim like shoe, you're set.
