I got one for $123.50 just last month and am very happy with the purchase. Purpose of buying it was because we just redid our kitchen and I was like heck no, Mom, you are no longer cooking inside the house with new backsplash, cabinets, and countertop.

Anything that splatters, or is pan fried, sizzled, etc, gets cooked outside now! To be fair, I now cook outside as well and really enjoy the big flame!

On the plus side of having to cook outdoors, for years, my Mom has hoped for a stove with a bigger flame (cooks better food according to her!). The fire on this stove is bigger than fire of the 4 stove tops combined! Unless you have a high pot, you can't even use the stove on full power.

1 suggestion is to stick with all metal pots and NOT use any pot with a plastic lined handles. If you turn the fire high enough, the fire creeps up the side of the pot and will melt the plastic!

Also, I originally purchased the griddle top attachment ($50) and returned it without using it. The idea was to pan fry things on it, but the idea of oil splattering all over the outdoor floor was an instant No. Maybe if you're out camping it wouldn't matter.

Are these good for cooking with an asian wok??

Traditional wok burners are at 100k+ btu. Highest btu on a home range is around 15-18k btu. This camp chef is 30k btu per. So it doesn't really compare to a wok burner but cooking smaller portions will go a long way to achieving a similar high btu effect.

Pro tip: soak the burner units ina small plastic tub / basin. In a few days it will be completely rust free. Spray with vegetable oil and fire it up, will re season and better than ever.

Soak in water and soap?

I like that model better too & with 20% off seems like decent deal but that site gets bad reviews at trustpilot . Personally I wouldn't trust that company .

I own this, it's awesome. Lots of heat, it's portable. I also purchased the case iron flat top/steak griddle.
Highly recommended.

Same here. With newly renovated white kitchen, no cooking inside. However winter has arrived and not sure what to do?

Is cooking in garage with garage door open legal? Safe? In CA.

It's been a few years, but this item has been as low as $63.74. If you don't need it immediately, set an alert on CCC and wait for it to drop. Not long ago, it was $90 from a third party seller on Amazon, so it can be purchased for less. But, it's got great reviews and I'm sure it will be a decent value, even at this price.
what is ccc?

I want to use for the same purpose as some have mentioned - cooking outside - but I have a natural gas connection in my backyard; can this be converted to natural gas? or is there a version of this that works with natural gas?

I believe you should need a converter, you will find details on previous threads.

I did the NG conversion on this exact model and have been using it for outside cooking the past couple years. Much more enjoyable to cook outside, saving the cleaning up, smoke and smell in the kitchen.

There is a NG instruction on camp chef website to drill out the orifice for NG conversion. I bought these NG orifice and installed them since I didn't want to drill out the propane orifice in case I need to go back to propane. You can get these at campchef but they are out of stock currently. https://www.campchef.com/low-pres...97-NG.html

As for the NG hose, depending on your NG connector coming out of your house, you can get any NG hose from amazon, something like this
https://www.amazon.com/GASPRO-Nat...rch&sr=8-7

You can email/call camp chef for customer support. They were very prompt in replying to my questions regarding the NG conversion process. So basically, you need to either drill out the orifice to a bigger hole for NG or buy the NG orifice like I did. After that, get a NG hose from Amazon and connect the unit to the NG outlet from the house. The most difficult part was the removal of the propane hose. It was on extremely tight so I had to spray WD 40 or something similar over night. It came off much easier the next day.
