I still have I guess 15-20 BR30 hue bulbs in basement that I rarely use with any other setting than daylight bright. Not sure, whether this would be a novelty for few weeks and wear off like others๐ฃ. But nice find nonetheless.
ah man, my bad. When I checked out there were still some in the $90ish price range. Wanted these for Halloween but couldn't pull the trigger at the retail price. I'd keep an eye on these, I bet some will come back in stock.

If you look at solely the quality of the hardware itself, then Philips Hue lights are indeed wildly overpriced. Supposedly you're paying for the software "ecosystem", and the continued support.
But the arguments on the pricing is moot -- until Philips Hue has any serious competitor, they can continue to charge whatever the fark they please. I actually can't understand how Philips Hue still has no legit competitor after all these years -- they've already demonstrated there's a big market for these kinds of things, and it's not like there's a big technical barrier to entry.
