With the recent update (DOWNGRADE) to Amazon Music (the free version), I found this way to get not just a 1-month trial, but 6-months if you follow the steps.
Go to the product page:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1
Select the one with the free 6 months subscription to Amazon Prime Music Unlimited.
You must have Amazon Prime, and have never had a free trial of Amazon Music Unlimited.
Otherwise, you will not get this option to purchase.
Today 11/8 they are also offering 10% back for Amazon Visa card use for purchasing this.
Everyone can get a free 1-month trial, but by doing this deal instead you are getting an extra 5 months of the upgraded subscription which is $8.99 a month, or ~$45 total savings when you purchase this Echo Dot 3rd generation at $17.99. I cannot say how long this will last. So even if you give away, trade-in later, or sock drawer the Dot, you are ahead of the game if you want to use their service how it should be.
I just traded in one and got a good percentage off of another Amazon device so you can save more money later that way than the cost of it. (NOT for this order, it does not stack with trade-ins)
I will be using a different music service after my trial if Amazon refuses to backpedal on this horrible new update.
If you do not know what I am talking about it is this:
For Prime members using Free Amazon Music service, you no longer have the ability to specify titles, artists, albums, etc ON Demand as you have already been able to do with 2 million titles. Now they advertise you can access their full catalog of 10 million titles. However, they make you shuffle through "maybe" the song or artist you ask for but maybe not, "plus similar ones". WTH?
I also read about someone claiming their personalized playlists are missing from on-demand. I upgraded today so cannot confirm that part.
They sometimes will play a specific track
first if you ask for just the track, but sometimes they only play something similar.
The problem is that is at their discretion from shuffling, not our choice.
This thread's main purpose is to say "Damn the man!" and get what we can how we want it for less- then decide whether it is worth keeping in 6 months.
At $8.99 per month, this service alone costs $107.88 per year- which almost doubles your Prime fee. Bad enough that Prime recently was raised to $139.99.
They really have some nerve, pretending to be doing us a huge favor with this crazy marketing lie which is obviously a downgrade.
