I'm building an Aorus Elite Ax now. Board was 199 a few weeks ago. Ram is 149.00 now.
Better board and ram for 297. This is a decent buy.

I got the Ultra board from Amazon during a $199 deal. I have not started my build and still need to find Ram for it. I might return the board and get this deal. Otherwise I need to find 32GB of quality Ram for $98.

If you find it for 98.00 that would be a slickdeal.

I'm literally in the same boat! My Ultramobo is coming in today. VERY tempted to send it back and get this one instead. Just wish it wasn't Newegg. Used to love them and were my go-to for all my PC part purchases. Haven't been buying parts in years and now I read a TON of negative comments here on SD about them.

Does anybody care to comment if this is worth the risk?

EDIT: How easy are returns with Newegg? That's what i love about Amazon, never had any trouble sending something back.

I've never had to make a return to Newegg. I've been surprised by all of the negative comments about them, because my experience has always been good. This year I've only purchased some software, laptop memory, and a standing desk through Newegg, but everything went perfect.

This is a great deal since the board is 199 at Amazon and RAM isn't this cheap.

The best deal is probably this + $300 13600K from Amazon.

Really super tempted by this. I am on an i7 10700k right now. I know that 13th gen is supposed to be way faster but wondering how much overall difference I will see. When I do have time, I mostly game at 1440p on an RTX 3090. Sometimes I do digital editing and music production. Seems like a very solid deal. Repped OP.

The MB has very negative comments on the newegg site. They are older though. Anyone has more recent experience with this MB?

Glowing reviews on Tom's Hardware: Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Ultra Review: Ports and Value Aplenty | Tom's Hardware (tomshardware.com)

I think with these high-end PC components, user errors/inexperience leads to a lot of these negative reviews, just my 2c.

EDIT: I pulled the trigger, too good a deal to pass up.

I've been on the hunt for a Z690 mobo and I see a lot of people recommending against Gigabyte boards. Apparently there is a RAM issue with them. I don't have details but I see a lot of people talking about it.

I think most of what I've read can be resolved by flashing the BIOS.

Jumped on this yesterday along with the 13600k for $300! Been reading reviews for the mobo and RAM nonstop over the last 24 hours and I think the only real issues come from having to qflash the BIOS to make it compatible with the 13th gen processors. Otherwise everything else looks solid especially for that price. DDR5 issues also seem to have been sorted out so fingers crossed.

$600 for a brand new and very decent setup (add $55 for the i7 instead, also on Newegg) is too sweet to pass up. Plus you can return if you find a better BF deal.

Also with returning stuff with Newegg, I've never had any issues over three different returns in the last two years (I keep finding better deals after purchase). Just print out the label and slap it on the original shipping box. The last thing I returned got credited back to my account before I even walked out of the UPS store.
