Yes. With inflation, this is better than nothing. Depending on where you are, could be up to $11 in savings.

The amount of food you get for the price you pay at PE is ridiculous. In most markets, you are better off buying the combo platter at your local Chinese take-out than at Panda Express. For example, the orange chicken bowl at PE costs 8-9 dollars whereas the orange chicken combo platter will cost 6-7 dollars in most markets. Plus, the food taste better and you get more in quantity.

Neither is any food you get at a Chinese restaurant. People in Beijing aren't eating General Tso's Chicken with a pork fried egg roll
I don't think you're eating at a Chinese restaurant then, lol.

None of the Chinese restaurants I eat at even have General Tso's on the menu.

Maybe due to inflation and sd is looking for deals seriously now?

Panda Express in all of west coast states like cali oregon wa are much more cheaper than local chinese mom and pop.

In fact, Panda Express still pretty much holds the same price as before the trillions of dollars pumped into the US market because of Covid.

1 plate of Panda Express = $9.50 used to be $9
1 Big Mac sandwich = $4.50 used to be $2.99
1 Chipotle Burrito = $11.50 used to be $8.99
1 bowl of pho = $15 used to be $9.50
1 banh mi sandwich = $7 used to be $3.99

All prices are based on before March 2020 vs now

Can anyone share if these are easy to use (eg load in app like Chipotle) or a pita (eg enter number every time like dominos)

Very easy to use. You save the GC to the app on first use. The free bowl is a unique coupon code to use on app. Works flawlessly.

Panda is not real Chinese food
Correct. Their menu is designed for the American taste buds - lots of sugar and salt. But, my family has been here since the 1870s, so my Chinese-American body loves this stuff.

Panda has more than doubled in price in the past few years, I get it - inflation has hit everyone. But what I have a problem with is the size of the containers, which have shrunk by 50% also over the same time period. Then, when they're putting the Orange Chicken or other entree in, they shake a lot off the spoon before they put any in the box. The amount you get varies wildly from one store to the next, or one server to the next. The thimble sized "extra" item box is a joke, the most you could get into it is a couple of ounces of food. I like the taste of PE but I don't like the lack of value for what you pay. It's become a ripoff in my opinion (YMMV, of course). For that reason, I very rarely go there anymore.
I just did the math - their prices have risen a total of 46.5% since 2017 (5-years). Granted the percentage increases in recent years has been higher than their pre-2020 3-8% annual price increases.

In my town, it's impossible to find any "real" Chinese food for less than $15 a plate so it's still an bargain overall and getting a free bowl with the purchase is great.

Good comparison and it tracks with my observations. The vietnamese food has been the most inflated since Covid, not sure I understand why. I used to get Pho for $7-$8 on east coast at many different restaurants, now it is almost double! I went to one Pho restaurant for the first time since Covid a month ago to eat inside, paid $15 for beef pho (with about 2 ounces of beef), no drink, paid $3 tip and tax. Never again! Lol

I tried trader joe's orange chicken and I personally didn't like it. I think the crazy cuisine brand one that Costco sells tastes a lot better.

I wish they were still 6-7. Chinese take out where i live cost around 9 to 10 dollars here now. Very rare occasions you will find them under 8. Although i do agree the portion size is typically way better at your local chinese.
The local chinese place near me used to be $6-8. Now it starts at $11 for 2 items upto $15 for 3 items. Same dishes and same quantity, possibly even less. But yes, they will taste better than Panda.

If your talking about fast food Chinese that are equivalent to panda. Then ghetto LA area is $10 for 3 item combo with tax. If your talking Chinese restaurant a orange entree is $10.50 but free 1 box of white rice. So you an make 2 maybe 3 meals
