A search for i3 laptop sorted by newest listing and filtered for under $300 had multiple pages of listings over the last year of comparable dual-core i-series laptops priced between $200-300.
Good luck!
Jon
It has a more capable and few months newer 4C/8T AMD Ryzen 3 5300U processor (vs this 2C/4T Core i3 1115G4). with higher multi-core Passmark of 10040 against 6212 of Acer, though the Core i3 1115G4 performs slightly better in single-core tasks (HP 2379 vs Acer 2674).
Both have upgradable 8GB RAM (Acer has 1x4GB soldered + 4GB removable, HP has 2x4GB removable), same 256GB SSD storage and inferior non-IPS FHD display panel.
I understand that HP laptop offers HP Fast Charge, which will take you from zero to 50% charge in just 30-45 minutes
In all aspects, I'd go for the HP for $5 more, unless you will need the RJ-45 LAN port which only Acer has.

It would be a FANTASTIC DEAL if you could upgrade the RAM and SSD (but 256GB is more than fine for such a machine.
If someone could confirm that - then this is worthy of being a front-page deal!
The often overlooked plus side is the i3 - because it is a rather low-power CPU you will get a lot of battery life out of it. Coupled with a very decent CPU performance for this i3 - it's a very nice road warrior.

If you're an advanced touch-typist and you've memorized the HP key layout I guess you'll be fine but if you ever need to actually look for a key the black on silver layout is a visual nightmare.
The screen is much more superior (IPS!) and you can slap two 8GB sticks in there and call it a day.
