The 5" Cobras are a great companion to the 10". I love both and I've used the 5" more in the last year. They fit in all the stupid tight spots around plumbing and stuff, they can still open super wide, and the main attraction: they bite and they do not slip! See Project Farm for evidence that no other plier comes close to the grip these have on hard round stuff.

I'll pick some up if I can think of anyone I didn't already give a pair of Cobras for Christmas or birthdays.

"Water Pump Pliers"

Every photo shows it being used on things that are clearly not a water pump.

My favorite:

Because those who still use VGA monitors after 2008 tighten the connection to the point they need plyers AND is too stupid to know about flat head screwdrivers...

This photo showed up on the front page thumbnail and I came here simply to express my horror. Lol.

Those serial cable screws can be difficult to loosen, especially if they've been on there for years/decades and sometimes those plastic ends will just widen when trying to use a flat head on them, so I don't see any problem at all with using a tiny pair of pliers to remove them if necessary.

"Water Pump" is just what this style of pliers is often called. In no way does that mean that's what they should only be used for.

You can't assume that anything is real on Amazon. They mix their inventory of the same SKUs from multiple sellers when the items are "fulfilled by Amazon". Like the blue checkmark, nothing is real or verified any more. Buy from stores that source appropriately, or buy things that you wouldn't care about authenticity.

I bought the 7 1/4" from them in the past, arrived 100% authentic.

Free shipping, free returns…seems safe enough if you're not satisfied.

You really have to wonder what they were thinking... I mean, that is CLEARLY a job for a quarter inch impact hammer, half inch if it's really stuck on there.
Use the right tool for the right job.
