I went on a cruise on Carnival Conquest in August 2022 through Costco Travel as our first family cruise (family of 4 with a 13 and 14 year old). We splurged on the Balcony cabin.

No complaints, in general, especially given how cheap the cruise was. Be aware that the Carnival Conquest seems to be one of their older ships. It's clean, but the pool is small and the water slides are a little short. Food is good, and the fees are all inclusive. We hit a storm the first day out, and the ship did sway some. Make sure you bring sea sickness medication if you're not sure if you get sea sick. The onboard store ran out of the medication that day.

Watch out for the additional fees, we purchased the Internet access and the Bubbles package (the soda package). The big fees are the shore excursions. Make sure you research on YouTube on what is worth going to.

All in all, it's a decent, cheap vacation. I think next time we'll go on a more modern ship that has more of everything (bigger pool, more entertainment, etc).

For those joking about that, the ship is COVID well then you are correct. I have a few friends that travel quite extensively and they have done quite a bit of cruising in the past 6 months and they have caught it a few times. Now carnival or any other ship will not report this or put this in the spotlight because of course they will lose business. But if you know people that have crews then more than likely they have at least caught at once.

As a travel agent and a cruise freak, I have not had a lot of issues with clients and covid. We recently took a seven day out of Florida and had no issues. We are doing another seven day in two weeks and I'm not worried about it. I always wash my hands and we honestly stay outside in the sunshine most of the time. Yes there are times when you are inside in a crowd but that can be limited if you plan correctly. This is a decent price on Carnival. We are not in a peak season so there will be some decent deals right now for last minute travel.

Are taxes and fees always this high?
Yes, this is what I call the cruise sale bait and switch. First it always says $30-60 a night, which is a great deal, right? Unlimited food and a room for $60 a night is incredible. Then you go the last screen and the total is $2000-3000 or something like that. (this is just an example, I haven't look at Expedia)

Ship might be cleaner but due to having enclosed small space with lots of same people all the time. Any contagious sickness spreads much more quickly in that environment. That's why even before the covid, cruise ships had a lot of warning for washing hands, using hand sanitizer etc. Not saying it is bad or you shouldn't go but in general you are more likely to get sick on ship vs. going out everyday and dining out everyday at some random restaurants.
Didn't most popular cruise lines remove the pre-testing Covid requirement a couple months ago? Also, they allow unvaccinated folks since a couple months ago. What do you all expect? There will be more Covid onboard onto the ships.

Remember there is about a $40 per day gratuity that is required to be paid.

My wife and I (in our 30s) cruised for the first time in September 2022, was testing negative on last day of cruise but a day later at home, started feeling sick and we both got covid for first time.

That being said, we're going on a "free" 7 night christmas cruise fully expecting to catch covid. But we'll have our 4th shot and flu shot this time Big Grin

Seems like very cheap. What's the catch? You have to attend a timeshare conference?
Not really, most likely the ship has lot of cabins that are not sold. They want to get as many people on board as possible at low price and then hope you spend a lot on alcohol and other services. If I lived around there, I'd jump on this
