This is so-so deal. Considering it's pricing trends and the release of newer model, 1tb is expected to have $89.99 as the new regular price. So you are saving $10 here.
Can this be used for non gaming? I need an upgrade for a laptop and it has a a M.2 slot I believe.
Nope. If there are no games installed, a djinn comes and steals half the storage space until you install one.
Jokes aside, you should check if your laptop has a 2280 slot and capable of booting from nvme.
Anyone comment on this vs KC3000? I know the KC3000 has higher top end speeds but I have heard this is a more power efficient / cooler.
Samsung has a long history of making most the most reliable solid state drives. It doesn't matter if a competitor is an ounce faster if this is a pound more reliable. That being said nobody should buy 980's the 980 pro is the best choice followed by the 970 Evo plus. The 980 is slower and usually more expensive than the 970 Evo plus. They're is also 970 Evo without the plus that's even older. https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Com...6vsm693540

This is DRAM-less but uses HMB. I understand that to mean write speeds will slow down once the SLC cache fills up.
