CVS always seems to have people, and I'm always wondering "why are you buying things here?" The prices are so inflated and I always see ecbs on the ground so they're not even using the rewards, it's wild.

Big Lots used to be junky like Ollie's is now. I'm not sure what/when it happened, but Big Lots are now clean and organized and much more uniform across the board. It's not a scavenger hunt like Ollie's lol
I don't know where you are, but the one in San Pablo was a mess. Half the stock was someplace inexplicable and often not priced. Items were strewn willy nilly around the store with shelves often bare. The store wasn't this bad when it was at the smaller location in the adjacent shopping center. I know Ross stores on the East Coast are a model of order. Here? They look like someone tossed a concussion bomb in there. I don't even bother. Maybe it's because CA is so expensive that the stores are picked over and often look like a church rummage sale on the last day.

And how CVS continues to do such a brisk trade is a mystery given all the "upgrades" to their pricing and coupon policies. I've all but given up on them. And I used to find such wonderful deals there.

I'm on the East Coast, and our Ross stores aren't terrible. They're just full of stock. lol But, they're typically clean and the clothes are actually labeled, tagged, and in the right sized sections.

Have you ever seen a Big Lots commercial? The stores here do look similarly organized like the ones on tv. It's night/day from what they used to be.

I've seen the Goli vitamins there but I didn't pay any attention to them because I already have way too many vitamins thanks to RA. Why I bought those jelly bean vitamins from RA I'll never know. I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time but then I looked at the calories and I'd have to give up lunch to have them. The 99Cent Only Store is a good place to pick up vitamins if you don't want to coupon but always check the exp date.
For some reason I think there used to be a lot of Goli rebates on urlhasbeenblocked and that's the only reason I paid attention to that brand. I wonder who even buys the jelly bean ones aside from couponers?? Who even needs their vitamins as a jelly bean? Like, come on, you're an adult! Eat it as a gummy LMAO

I guess that CVS gave up on the front end of the store. They want to do wellness, urgent care, and medical insurance now. Ok, I guess but the CEO's vision of what CVS should be isn't what their customers want. It was like when Larry Merlo went on his crusade against cigarettes. I don't smoke but that even pissed me off. I don't need a CEO telling me what I can and can't buy. If CVS is so into a healthy lifestyle, why do they sell coke and candy? CVS stock finally recovered from that disaster and now the new CEO is pushing it into the dumps again. CVS should stick to what they're good at - selling things at high prices with extra bucks deals that people throw away.
They're not really telling you what you can/can't buy. They're just saying what they will/won't sell. People can still buy cigarettes.....just not from them. lol. I think they probably weren't selling a TON of cigarettes anyway, so they decided to put on a show and say "Hey, we're gonna stop selling cigarettes for health reasons, guys!" and then bank on lots of good press/PR/goodwill. Now that they have Tricare again, they probably don't care about anything front end at all, and yet they keep raising the prices Frown

Of all of us, I'm probably the most active - at this time - CVS shopper. I can echo so much of what y'all have all said about CVS!

My 'favorite' store has only had most of the tags up probably one week out of the last three months. Heck, half the time, the employees don't even know what the deals are unless one of us couponers who shop there mention it. And of course there are no ads, not even the 'one' that corporate started out sending to the stores.

There are people in and out of the store all the time, and they buy incredibly over priced stuff. Even when someone gets an ecb on their receipt and the cashier or I say something to them about it, the conversation goes something like this:

Customer: Well I just finished shopping and this will expire before I get a chance to use it.
Me or Employee: Then you should take that $10 and go buy yourself something - anything.
Customer: Nah, I don't have time.

Most days after coupons and ecbs, I'm spending pennies, and for me CVS is a money maker overall, but it kills me to hear people's totals $33, $72, $114, and they don't flinch at all.

I'll finish it for you...

Customer: Nah, I don't have time. Here, you take it.
Me: It's not going to work on my card.
Customer: What, my money isn't good enough for you?

It's amazing how people can get so upset over something that
they were going to throw out.
