So I have 3 questions regarding the Murdaugh murders.

1. What was Alex's motive for killing Maggie and Paul?

2. Where did all of the money go? Did Alex really have a $50,000
a week drug habit? Was Alex a drug addict for over 20 years?

3. Why haven't the gangs that sold Alex the drugs been investigated?

I don't know how killing Maggie and Paul could possibly benefit Alex. The murders were extremely violent. What would motivate that? Was Alex that upset at Paul for the boat accident which caused Alex's life to unravel? Were Paul and Maggie happily married or headed for a divorce?

It's hard for me to believe that Alex spent all of that money. He doesn't look to me like a drug addict. I don't believe that he was using that much. I think that something else was going on. If he was spending $50,000 a week on drugs, the people who sold Alex the drugs should be a crucial part of the investigation. Why haven't they been? Does the prosecution know that the drug story is bullshit?

I'm going to revise my opinion. I think that Alex did it but those murders were so violent that there has to be more to the story. I can understand why Alex would be so pissed at Paul for causing his finances to become public due to the boat accident but you don't shoot your son in the head with a shotgun. Did Alex use a shotgun because nobody would ever think that a father would do that? Was Alex that calculating? Maybe. I think that the key will turn out to be Buster. What was that suicide/10 million dollar payout all about? From the phone calls that I heard, Alex and Buster have a very weird father/son relationship.
We haven't watched it yet, so I don't have all the perspective you do. I can weigh in when after we watch it. Right now, we're finishing up season 3 of Outer Banks.

I also haven't watched the show yet (we're talking about the Netflix one I think?).
I thought it was pretty clear cut that he did it, but that's just from clips on the news.

Outer Banks sounds interesting. Is it worth going back to NFLX for? I'm not a big fan of HBO Max but I'm only paying $7.50 with no commercials per month so all I really need is one good show every month and I'm ok. I can't wait for season 4 of Succession. It's definitely a binge watch if you haven't seen it already. It's basically the same theme - the haves vs the have nots - but if you think that the Murdaugh's are messed up wait till you get a load of the Roy's.

I can go on a rant about the UFC and ESPN Plus but I don't know if anybody here is into that. They have a great card coming up on Saturday with the main event being the return of Jon Jones after 3 years away from the sport. He's moving up to heavyweight but he's going to get his ass kicked. If you could build the perfect athlete, it would be his opponent Ciryl Gane. Gane is the worst possible match-up for Jones because Gane fights with the skills of a much smaller guy. Don't get me wrong, Jones has a good chance of winning so I'm not putting any money on the fight. I just have a feeling that Gane will get the job done. As excited as I am for this card (there are a lot of great fights on it), I'm starting to really hate Dana White and the UFC. I won't get into it unless somebody wants me to.
We don't have all the various pay programs, so I can't comment for sure. We get HBO Max free and pay for Netflix. We also pay for ESPN Plus, so get all but the pay per view UFC fights with our monthly fee. When we're not paying for the UFC fights because of scheduling conflicts, my son 'finds' the ppv UFC fights online. As I understand it, there's more than one way to get them, but most are definitely not easy. The ppv UFC fights we do pay for are factored into our budget as part of hubby's entertainment.

I have seen recommendations to 'jump' the various pay programs, watching them for a month at a time and then cancelling them. If you were to do that, I definitely recommend Outer Banks.

I just watched all three parts of the Murdaugh thing on Netflix.

1. What is the Low Country?
2. Why does he spell his name Alex but call himself Alec?
3. Why didn't the parents get better haircuts for the boys? This is not the1970's, and they were wealthy.

Those are very petty things though, and my son needs a haircut. I am aware of it though.

Now to be controversial: I don't understand how killing hogs or pigs or whatever could NOT make you a little more detached about shooting people. I know that people who hunt will say that it is a totally different thing and there is not relation between the two things at all, but I just can't wrap my head around it. I know a lot of you will say that I am wrong, and maybe I am. I am not part of that culture at all.

It seems pretty clear that the older boy (Buddy?) was in a sexual relationship with the blond boy. Maybe the blond boy was going to reveal it to the whole world, not sure. So the older Murdaugh boy (Buddy?) and some friends went to kill the blond boy. I don't know if the younger brother was involved or not. Not sure if the friends who were there knew about the sexual relationship or not.

So the parents took out an insurance policy right before the housekeeper died. That's pretty shady. At first I was going to say that you can trip on a pet, because we have a new cat that is always around my feet, and it's a bit of a hazard. Then I saw the blurb at the end of the show that showed the parents had added to their insurance policy. The younger boy was also home, but he wouldn't have killed the housekeeper if he really revered her that much. The parents must have planned it, and the mom knocked her down. Maybe the parents were going to split up and the Alex/Alec said that the mom (his wife) could have the money if she did the killing. Or maybe there had been a prior relationship with the father and the housekeeper, and it finally came out. Or maybe it was something about the drugs. Maybe the housekeeper was trying to extort money from the family. Maybe the younger son had confided something he knew about the blond boy's killing, and then he told his parents that he had told the housekeeper. There are tons of possible motives here, but it does seem that the mom did this killing. I would need more evidence though.

Yes, the younger boy was a bad drunk and was responsible for Mallory's death when the boat hit the bridge.

I wonder if somehow Alex/Alec convinced the younger son to kill his mother. Did he tell his son that the mom killed the housekeeper? I don't know here, but either the younger son or Alex/Alec killed the mom. Then Alex/Alec killed the younger son. Yes, it's crazy to kill your own child, but that is why this case is getting so much publicity. We know that men kill their wives all the time. It's crazy but nothing new. The startling thing is the guy killing his own son. I don't know why he did it. Maybe he was mad about the boat accident, who knows. Maybe he just did it to make it look like he didn't kill his wife. But it's pretty clear that he did kill his son, and that one of them (probably Alex/Alec) killed the mom.

As to what he was doing with all that money...I don't know. Some of it was opioids for sure. Was he putting money away so he could start a new life somewhere else? Then there's the gambling thing. Alex/Alec and his surviving son talked about gambling, so it's clear they both gambled. You can lose a lot of money very quickly that way, but you would think there would be some kind of money trail there. Crazy that each one of them likely killed someone.

I used it at Kroger, it went through fine and it gave me fuel points.

This is what we do. Maybe a month or two. Some things are on a deal for longer. Seems like we have plenty of reasons to keep hulu, at least during the traditional tv season. Also, if you have Amazon, slow ship credits can be used to pay for channels that Amazon offers. Be aware that most come with a free week to start so give yourself at least a week before your credits expire to do this.

I watch OB but am super annoyed that they film in Charleston. The Low Country is very different from OBX. I can get that OBX may not have wanted them filming around there but there were better choices than Charleston. It pulled me out of the story when they were supposed to be in OBX.

The Low Country is a geographic area. Defined as a low-lying country or region; especially : the part of a southern state extending from the seacoast inland to the fall line. Think lots of swamps and oyster beds. It's a kind of way to differentiate between the coastalish and way-inland (but not mountainous) areas of the southeastern states. Or it might be specific to SC, Im unclear on if I live in the Low Country as a resident of as far south as NC goes along the coast. Ive heard the middle (but not mountainous) parts of NC discribed as "Piedmont" so maybe that's how we differentiate. LOL

I had assumed that a good bit of the money was going to pay off people...judges, witnesses, doctors. I dont recall why I thought that though. That he was socking some away to run is a good thought also.

I couldn't find any Lavazza at Target. I'm looking for the cans that correspond to the printed coupons from c.c. I can't find it anywhere.
