So I got the results of my lung function test today. I'll preface it with I was having a lot of chest pain and shortness of breath that morning and thought that I would have to go to the ER after the test so I fully expected to fail it. Instead, I got 100. The bad part is that I still have the chest pain and shortness of breath. The worst is when I get out of my car and take 3 or 4 steps and then I can't breathe. I can't explain how terrifying it is. I'm on the verge of passing out but I haven't so far unless you count the time that I fell into the shopping carts at Vons. It was on my way home from the hospital. I was there picking up my prescriptions. Anyway, I've got another doctor's appointment tomorrow and she's going to be really pissed off at me about something. Then I may have to go to urgent care. I sprained my arm two weeks ago and it hurts like hell. I was finally starting to get better and then I walked into a stack of water bottles last night and my arm went crazy. I've been taking extra strength tylenol and it doesn't make a dent in the pain. It's not nearly as bad as my chest pain but the arm pain is enough to make me very uncomfortable. If anybody out there has had open heart surgery and wants to talk please post something. I promise that I'll be nice lol.

I watched the season opener of Succession last night. Spoiler Alert: if you haven't watched it already and don't want to know what happened, skip this post.

Ok, I think that it sucked. Logan and the kids are in a bidding war over a legacy media company that nobody else wants. They push the price up to 10 billion when the company isn't worth 6. It's not like anybody else is going to jump in and buy obsolete technology. And each camp would have spies in the other camp to avoid a bidding war. Logan didn't get to where he is by being this stupid and it's hard to believe that he would let his kids overspend by 4 billion no matter how pissed off he is at them. If I'm not buying the premise, there's not much else left to watch. I especially didn't like the insult me part at Logan's birthday party. Greg wouldn't have opened his mouth. And the 1% stuff. What's 100 million? Talk about tone deaf in a time of hyper inflation. No stars.

I am not a doctor, but I have lived through some weird - and not so weird - stuff medically. I have a feeling there's something you or the doctors have missed, and once you find the right combo of fixes, you'll be amazed at how much better you feel. Good luck!

The only thing that's keeping me alive is my stent. I have to take one of three drugs to keep it open. I've had very bad reactions to all three drugs. The best one makes me faint all of the time and the worst one gave me another heart attack. I can go off of what I'm taking now but then I'm risking a fatal heart attack. Unfortunately, there is no miracle for me other than the miracle that I'm still alive thanks to my fantastic doctors who have to put up with all of my bullshit.

It's not a lot of fun feeling like the "bad" patient. And sometimes the cures do feel worse than the diseases. Been in both those spots before. After three very long and painful years I arrived at a remission. Every day isnt perfect but I'm thankful for each day that I am in a "better" spot. Hopefully you will feel that soon. Until then, take care and try not to be too hard on yourself.

I know you have serious health issues and I'm not trying to belittle that at all. But is it possible that you are also having panic attacks on top of that? Have any of the doctors touched on that? I just want to say that there is a possibility that you are so scared of having another heart issue that you have anxiety. The doctors would have to rule out everything else first, and they probably can't really rule it all out because you do get side effects from medicine. I hope you don't hate me for bringing this up.

Have you or your doctors considered by-pass surgery to replace the vein/artery that has the stent? This is what my brother did.

I am here to say that a panic attack can feel just like a heart attack. I thought I was having a heart attack driving to work one day, so I went to the doctor's office that was on the way. After chewing me out for driving when I felt like I might be having a heart attack, instead of pulling over and calling 911, the doctor confirmed it was a panic attack.

I had a massive heart attack in Oct. Two of my arteries were 100% closed and the the third was 80% closed. They did an angiogram but were not able to put in a stent. The plan was for me to rest up and have open heart surgery in a few months but I had another heart attack the night before I was going to be discharged and they did the surgery the next day. Three months later the two arteries from my open heart surgery closed and I had another heart attack. They did an angiogram and this time they were able to put in a stent. They gave me a blood thinner to keep the stent open and I had my fourth heart attack. They switched me to a different blood thinner and had to go back to the hospital with severe shortness of breath. Then they switched me to the third blood thinner and I developed ulcerative colitis (which is a side effect of this medication). Now I'm back to the second blood thinner and I'll stay on it for as long as I can. I have low blood pressure (it's usually around 100/60 but it can go lower) and my heart rate is around 40. I come close to fainting multiple times each day. Some days I can walk 5 miles and other days I can't walk 50 feet. I have all sorts of weird symptoms like my left leg will start shaking every few minutes and I'll lose my coordination and not be able to control where I'm going and walk into things.

How could I possibly hate you? Yes, it has been mentioned by my doctors more than once and nothing pisses me off more because this is not something that anybody would do to themselves. The panic is a result of not being able to breathe. The panic doesn't cause me to not be able to breathe. Yes, I'm afraid that one day I'll have an episode that I won't be able to pull myself out of. Does this mean I have an anxiety disorder? No, it means that I'm a normal human being.

And a heart attack doesn't feel like what I thought a heart attack would feel like. I have chest pain constantly but I have no idea what's my heart and what's something else. I don't care anymore. I can't live my life being afraid of my shadow. I'll tell you what gives me anxiety. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday morning and then I went to 3 CVS's which is a short run for me. I got home at around 1 and it was absolutely beautiful outside. A perfect day. I wanted to go on a walk but I wasn't able to do it. This is what gives me anxiety. Missing out on such a great day because I'm in bed taking my pills.

I'm glad that you were able to beat you demons. It's not an easy thing to do. I'm a horrible patient. I have too many problems and none of my symptoms make any medical sense. To
top it off, I always say the wrong thing.

So how is life after the podium? I used to read your posts. I didn't always agree with you but you're a very good writer. I try to write but I have horrible writer's block and nothing ever comes out that way I want it to.

Life's been fine. Definitely not what I thought it would be at this stage of my life but it is what it is. If you read my posts in the podium, you may have read that I started participating in the podium when I became more house bound due to physical limitations. This has not changed and continually gets worse. I rarely go out; when I do it's usually for something medically related. I do miss reading the posts in the podium; it certainly opened my eyes to how others feel and think. It also gave me something different to do with my time. I sometimes visit the lounge but it's not the same. I think I may be too old to grasp some of the comments made there.

And thanks for your 'good writer' compliment. I've always felt my writing is an area that definitely needs improvement. My sister is the one in my family that got the talent for good writing. There again, I do what I can with what I have.

Have a good day and stay safe.
