I recently switched from a 29" 1080p Ultrawide and even on that smaller one found the pixels to be lacking for text. I can't imagine how bad a 34" would look.

This pairs nicely with the 25 back in credit on 250 purchase at B&H available on Amex right now.

Is this a good deal? Resolution seems a bit low at this size, I'm not a resolution snob but 3440x1440 at 34 inches seems much more ideal. I bought a 32 inch 2560x1440, same horizontal res but more vertical space for cheaper.

I do a lot of spreadsheet work with a ton of columns. Would u recommend the 32in 16:9 for that?
At the very least. I would actually recommend something in 16:10.
You also can't go wrong with a 4k 43" 16:9.
32" is not really that big tbh.

I don't really see any reason why someone should pull the trigger on this. The 1440p versions aren't much more money and some of them are even 1440p and 144hz for just a little more.

Isn't resolution of 2560x1080 too low for a 34" monitor??
That resolution is usually for 27" monitors

Is a curved monitor worth the extra $ over this? 90% of the time I would use it for work (Excel).
No, especially for Excel where lines and rows are important. A curved monitor won't be ideal and are prone for line skipping when reading across. Curved monitors are tailor made for consumption, especially gaming.

For ultra wides I feel the curve helps a lot with work. ESP if you have 2 side by side

I got the curved monitor on a deal last year, used it for 2 days and returned it. The curve was hard getting used and looked distrorted to me. Got the flat version to use for email and excel and have been loving it. VESA mount on this one is a plus

I would not do a 34/35" ultrawide unless it is 3440x1440.

Giving up the vertical pixels doesn't help for productivity. My personal setup (wfh software engineer) is a 35" UW (Monoprice) and mounted above it a 24" 1080p AOC monitor. I needed the 1080p monitor as I was having issues with people being able to see my screen share well when I was sharing a 1440p monitor.

The ultrawide doesn't quite multitask as well as 2 screens. I really prefer having a 2nd screen, even with the UW. If you are going to be on 1 screen, don't sacrifice and get a 1440p UW.

As for curve or not, I would recommend getting the curved screen on this large of a display. Helps keep viewing angle proper throughout the screen.

Totally agree on the extra pixels on this size of screen though. I can't imagine 1080p on my 35"UW. Curved is worth it too - my buddy has a 43" 4k as a monitor, and even though it has nice wide viewing angles, the edges always look a bit off - not a big deal, but I really like my curved monitor, especially for gaming.

I actually prefer a single large screen for multitasking. Personal preference is key here. I'm thinking of picking up a 43" 4k for my WFH computer to see if the extra room is worth the curved/flat tradeoff.
Also WFH software engineer and have a 34" Ultrawide LG IPS monitor with 3440x1440p. Here is the kicker, I changed my resolution to 2560x1080p (instead of scaling text up) as things where too small. I can see it, but it increases eye strain. To organize my desktop I just use FancyZonez and desktops on Windows, and on Mac I just use desktops. In both cases, I use a Magic Touchpad with macOS gestures. I have two additional monitors of 1080p, but usually just use on of them in portrait mode for code, but even then I find I use about half the screen.

What I'm trying to say is it really comes down to preference. Lots of people keep saying 1080p is too big on 27". Here I am using it on 34" and 27" monitors. I find that having a lot of screens is less helpful rather than the macOS gesture swiping to get to another organized desktop too. Less head turning.

Also a software engineer here. Would this be a proper upgrade from my Massdrop Vast monitor?

It's giving me a bit of eye strain lately. It's 5 years old at this point.

Isn't the text will appear fuzzy on this screen size and 1080 resolution? The 34 inch screen size is too large for a 1080 resolution. You need at least 1440p or higher?
So I received and tried out the monitor today and I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm using it for working with documents and spreadsheets 95% of the time, and so far I'm enjoying it more than my 2, 27" 1440p Dell monitors that were a little on the older side with add-on speakers that clip to the bottom.

My pros:
-so much less clutter than 2 bulkier monitors with stands and add-on speakers
-1080p is a little less friendly than 1440p in regards to text, but the "ultra wide" aspect ratio keeps it from being stretched like some 32" regular aspect ratio monitors I've seen
-built in speakers using usb c/hdmi are so much better than plugging/unplugging a headphone jack from any device I want to use (or getting crackles and pops from splitting audio out, etc.) Again, I'm just using using this for the occasional teams meeting and YouTube video
-it looks nicer, newer, and slimmer than my old monitors without all sorts of red, flashy gamer branding

Cons:
-1080p isn't as nice as 1440p (but still very much doable, especially for for $250)
-no power delivery in the usb c port (I think? I haven't actually tested this out, but I'm pretty sure)
-it can be tough to screen share ultra wide monitors

I've purchased and returned a similarly priced dell 1440p 32" monitor and 1440p LG ergo stand monitor with usb c power due to pixel issues and the monitors just not looking or feeling nice for daily use. I'm very pleased with this one though, and I'm planning to keep it.

I'm glad you like the new monitor. I just picked up a like new Dell ultrasharp 27 inch U2719DC for $110 from some sketchy guy on OfferUp 😂 I'm replacing it with a 12 years old Dell ultrasharp that's starting to go. The slimmer design and extra connections are great! Gotta love Dell ultrasharp line!
