I just sealed up the box on my return. I was not happy with the sound of this thing, despite the reviews. I'm no audiophile but this speaker was missing mid-range for me. Very (too?) prominent bass and crisp high-end but it felt like a big chunk in the middle was missing. I put it side by side with my Marshall Stanmore and except for bass-heavy pop/dance music, the Marshall won every time in my book. And since I don't listen to much bass-heavy pop/dance music, this thing is headed back.
The Marshalls (I also have a Woburn) have a warmth to the sound that this lacked. This may not make sense to anyone but me but if the Marshalls sound like "home" this Harman Kardon sounded like the "mall."
Not knocking it for anyone who happens to like it. It just wasn't for me.

I have one of these and the sound is great compared to our smaller JBS charge/flip. Looking for something a little bigger & better for our living room/kitchen area. Any suggestions? Denon 350? Sonos Five? Portability isn't important. Thanks in advance.

How is it compared to the Charge? And which Charge do you have?
I just bought a Charge 5 but wondering if I should get this instead. I don't need portability either.
The Citation 200 is also on sale for $130. If they were the same price, I'd choose the Citation 200 over the Onyx 4. At the current price, you have to evaluate what you want out of it. I personally choose the Citation 200.
The Onyx 7 is on sale for $200.

I'd like to add a Bluetooth speaker to a bathroom. Anyone have suggestions? Portable or permanent
The Citation 200 at $130 has a 5" woofer, and it has a water resistant rating to handle splashing. I wouldn't put it in the shower, but anywhere else should be fine.
If you are looking for something to sit on a shelf/counter and play excellent quality music with some bass, this is it. Sure, other speakers can have more "thump," but this will produce the best full range of sounds. Highly recommend.
Pro Tip: If you own a Peloton Bike, connect this via Bluetooth and really enjoy your rides.

As for your question, what about this? I haven't heard it myself. It was $99 last year.
