No clue what to do about a soundbar anymore (mine had a receiver break). All of them have some talk them up and some talk them down. This one on rtings says it's "satisfactory" for mixed usage, which isn't what you want to heat for a $1k soundbar. Then the sonos ones have mixed reviews and no hdmi passthrough. No diea what I should get for just a small room.

Yeah at the end of the day soundbars will never be as good as dedicated home theater systems. I've been eyeing soundbars for months now and decided to pull the trigger on the Samsung Q700B which I got for $240 using the Samsung EDU/EPP discount. I figured I'm willing to spend up to $300 to get better audio than what's coming out of my TV, but wasn't willing to pay $500+ for something that I'll probably replace in a few years anyway.

yeah, for me personally my yamaha soundbar has been plenty for me for years and then the receiver broke so I am deciding between spending $80 for a used receiver from ebay to replace it or spending more for more current tech. I have a plasma and an oled, though, and I really am not wanting to replace the plasma with another oled, so really the plasma doesn't need current tech since it's incapable of eARC and hdmi 2.0 and 4k and atmos etc... lol. But was also thinking well I could move it back and forth between the tvs so then current tech would be nice. )I only use the oled for occasional movies, usually so wouldn't be constantly moving it).
I had thought maybe the sonos beam 2 since it will be on sale next week for under $400. But not sure. The samsungs are rated nicely, especially for tv dialogue, but I always have probs with samsung products so kind of hate to risk it.
Does anyone have experiece with the advertised integration between Sony soundbars and certain Bravia TVs? In other words, is this something to seriously consider if you already have a Bravia TV, or is it more of a gimmick to get you to buy a Sony soundbar?
For those that say you can't get a good atmos effect from a soundbar with separate surround sound speakers...watch the below linked review of a soundbar by Caleb Denison at digital trends recently. He's reviewed a lot of tv's, soundbars, etc. He seems genuine in his reviews. Go to 8:40 in the video...
