Please be careful before pulling the trigger! I was just about to buy and took another look. This item is a different model from the CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS System, 1500VA/1000W, 12 Outlets, AVR, Mini Tower unit that you see elsewhere and on Amazon.

The Costco model is a stripped down version of the Amazon one with a different model number! You can google to see the different specs on Cyberpower's website, but in a nutshell the Costco model:
- the regular price is the CyberPower SUGGESTED list price ... so Costco has not been selling this mdel at a discount. But now it is $30 off.
- The Costco model has 100 less watts of backup (1000 vs 900)
- The Costco model has a SMALLER BATTERY .... 12v 7Ah vs. 12v 9Ah ... hence the lower rating and runtime.
- The Costco model has 10 outlets as opposed to 12 outlets
- The Costco model has lower output on the USB charging ports
- The Costco model does not appear to have the color display, nor all the buttons
- The Costco model has a smaller input voltage spec
- The Costco model has a STRAIGHT power plug whereas the other has the nicer Right angle plug << Seems they both have right angle plugs per posts
- The Costco model has a lower Joule dissipation rating

There are quite a few more changes ... but I do believe that Costco used to sell the better version for a good price. I am not sure. Unfortunately I was waiting for the "better" version to come on sale. I will NOT be buying this stripped down version, but your own mileage may vary.
The shut down issue is a deal killer for me. They don't turn back on when the power returns. Worse than having no backup at all.
If you live nearby a warehouse, consider getting it shipped there for customer pickup vs straight to your residence. Lots of complaints of damaged packaging when shipped to one's place (I returned 3 of 3 that were all bashed up and I wasn't going to chance using them). When I did warehouse pickup, it was double boxed and no indication it was mishandled by the courier.

Some stores has that one on clearance at $89.97 according to a recent thread.
It's the following model that's 1350 VA / 810 Watts. I just got one last Saturday at the Oceanside, NY. There were only a few left.

Not lucky, Imagine if all the batteries in all of the different models of these units had to be replaced every 18 months or so?? Not realistic....

That one is a SUMULATED Sine wave ... not a true Sine wave.

SLA batteries don't care how they're oriented. Chances are this unit has one right side up and one upside down battery
Taped to each other on their side .. terminals all in the same sideways direction.

Most likely still has the flammable yellow glue and these units shut down ALL power (not just battery powered) if battery is degraded
Wow, thank you!

I was wondering what's been happening. I have two of these and they just started shutting down. The whole unit just dies and then of course my computer loses power.

I got one a few years back where the box was just two batteries, some wires, and a bunch of plastic shards...that was a fun return. The replacement they shipped arrived undamaged at least.

Where's the best place to purchase a new battery? I don't really trust buying from third-party sellers on Amazon.

Edit: Purchasing the CyberPower RB1280X2B UPS Replacement Battery Cartridge for model: CP1500PFCLCD on Amazon (Ships from Amazon.com Sold by Amazon.com) is not ($40 ish) . Try twice that @ $89.99

This is a different (older) generation of the same UPS. Cyberpower often uses the same model names but updates the feature set, then slightly changes the suffix of the model number.

https://www.costco.com/cyberpower...45557.html

Is another example, but this time Costco is selling a newer generation CST135UC2. Previous generation Costco sold had no color LCD, and only USB-A ports CST135XLU

All Cyberpower UPS I've bought, 20+ units, from Costco or other retailer have right angle plugs. I've bought 6 of these exact units from Costco, last was a few months ago, and it has a right angle plug.

In short, it's last gen vs new (current) gen

i dont know why they still make simulated when these bad boys are doing true sine wave. simulated is too dangerous for your sensitive electronics.

so happy to see the true sine on sale. but sad im not a costco member so cant buy v__v
Simulated sine wave is cheaper to produce and sufficient for most electronics-- the benefits of pure sine wave are often overstated. I've been running my PCs on simulated sine wave UPSs for like 25 years with no issues. That said, I'm upgrading to pure sine wave for my next build (my ~15-year-old APC is finally showing signs of age), since it is gentler on the PSU and I can afford it.

The third-party Amazon batteries have been fine for me. Replaced my OEM batteries 4 years ago and they're still alive and have carried me through a few voltage issues.

This Costco model should be compared to the OLD version of the CP1500PFCLCD UPS rather than the new version with the color screen.

I purchased this UPS model back in 2017 from BHphoto https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...e_ups.html
The specs are pretty much identical to the Costco model.

Also, purchased this CST1500S last year and can confirm it uses a right-angle plug. It says the plug style is a "right angle, 45 deg offset right" on the pdf spec sheet...

No, under normal/typical conditions, they should last 3-5 years.
