Looks like the Kingston is just barely is faster at 7,300 Mbps vs. Samsung's 7,100 Mbps. Not different enough that you would ever notice. Both solid options and roughly comparable with each other.

You're good sticking with the 980 if you've already bought it.

I've got at least 6 samsung drives in 2.5" SATA and M.2. None has failed, and I've given more as gifts, or installed them for others. None has failed going back 6+ years. I also have a PM81 that is 5 years old and just ordered a 2TB 980 Pro this morning...

That's only my experience, but Samsung is not something I'd worry about. I'd backup frequently regardless of mfg and be much more worried about the crap you see selling at half price (Inland), and or any QLC drives (which I'd never buy)..

I also bought an SK Hynix 2TB P-31 in Sept. and hope I get many years out of it. One never knows so don't get lazy and be prepared....

Good find. For the inevitable question, yes, this works with PS5. Good reviews on Amazon.

Not sure if you'd need a separate heat sink or not. This says it comes with a "Low profile graphene aluminum heat spreader" so might be OK without?

I too got Samsung 980 pro for the same price from Microcenter, but am very cautious about reports that Samsung drives fail after 6-12 months of usage... Granted, defects are inevitable with any manufacturer, but have not heard anything to that extent about Kingston Fury drives. Oh decisions, decisions...

0e error issue happened on all current samsung ssds, 980, 980 pro, 970 evo, 970 evo plus. Mostly manufactured in 2021 after they shifted to new controller.

I read that adding a heatsink would be ideal for use in the ps5 as the heat spreader would not be enough, does that seem like the best move? Would the Sabrent heatsink fit?

I ended up returning the 980 Pro to get the Fury Renegade. Too failure when you search for it. Most of the posts were recent for 2022 on Reddit
