Needs line-of-sight to the Xbox, and that's why it didn't work well for me.

It definitely doesn't. The Xbox media remotes all use only IR.

Great deal. Didn't have a GameStop around me, glad Amazon price matched for me. Thanks, OP!

Always wanted one of these but didn't want to spend $20. Ten dollars is worth it. Wish they came in different colors.

Thanks, and the first question if you don't mind. I am researching how good XBox vs my Shield TV.

I don't know feature wise but I' bet the xbox would use more wattage just for streaming purposes.

I use it as our primary box. It's great. My only issue is you can't cast protected content on the Xbox even if you have a legitimate account on an app somewhere.

Xbox dropped the ball big time with the new Xbox Series line of consoles when it comes to using it as a home theater device. This controller or the 8-bit one can only control items via CEC. If your audio system or TV don't have that function, this only has limited functions where you can't control volume. I wish that Xbox allowed users to do the same like with the Xbox One consoles where you can select the systems you have so it was programmable.

100% agree. It was a real step backwards in my home theater to switch from the Xbox One X to the Xbox Series X. CEC still doesn't work correctly with my receiver, lost volume control, lost "PIP" TV. Oh well.

What's the difference between One and Series for home media?

Does anyone know if this is compatible with youtubetv, as far as the channel up and down button? I use my sony and the channel up and down work for that, but it's sporadic as a media player.

One - is programmable and doesn't have forced CEC
Series - isn't programmable, CEC is forced
