Sounds like your filter is installed wrong. I can use this thing to suck up gypsum dust without problem.

HEPA filter has no real purpose for a shop vac. A HEPA filter is for filtering invisible doo dad's like allergens.

Anything sucked up in a shop environment is going to be huge (from a particle size perspective). Any level of visible dust is easily captured by this bad boy.

unless you have a dual filter (secondary HEPA) filter all you will do is have a filter that gets clogged too quickly has too much resistance to airflow and reduced ultimate suction.

Right tool for the right job...

Got this at regular price for $100 because I needed it. $79 is definitely a good price for a brand new unit

We've been using the crap out of this thing since we got a new puppy in the house. Suck loose stools straight out instead of grinding it into the rug/carpet. Clean by sucking up 3 gallons of bleach water.

Excellent vac that I've owned and used for years. I'd buy another if mine broke.

For anyone wondering, it's not HEPA filter compatible according to the home Depot question and answer section

I got one and wasn't a fan of it. It doesn't weigh much so when you try to use the hose it will pull the whole box with it making it so you had to use both hands. So you cant just set it down on a surface like the car seat and clean. But i guess in some applications it doesn't really matter.

I wanted something to clean up shop dust and it always seemed bulky and little more of a pain to use in my cramped shop especially trying to clean up behind a miter stand or under a table saw etc... Just something to think about i guess.

The new dewalt DCV501HB has been great for my use but also more expensive.

I use one as well - decent little vac. I tweaked it to accept old standard vacuum filter bags inside, which helps to keep dust down and preserve the filter inside. If I need to vac up liquid, I just unclip the top and remove the bag.

I want to get a vacuum to use with my makita 18v sander. Would this be good to use? Looking for a smaller footprint for inside the home as I'm looking to sand and refinish some trim.

Sounds like a great hack!

If not asking too much, which type of vacuum bag? Also, what are you using for "clips"? (maybe rubber bands?)

Thank you!

it looks like the bigger one moves less air than the smaller one (45cfm vs 40cfm)
