And it's a vacuum, you worry on Chinese people knowing the map and layout of your house and how frequent you use the vacuum? Same thing will happen if this products is made in the US, US companies will also track the same data.
The discounted pricing is basically the same as past deals we have seen here. It's a shame, i was waiting to see the S7 MaxV Ultra, but it's still very pricey.

the point is very simple. the best time to get an electric car is not when only Tesla is making them, but when everyone is making them (significant technology improvement, much lower risk, and better price due to competition). that is unless you like novelty and risks . . .
With a car, it's point it to get one from point A to point B. One can buy any type of engine or motor to accomplish that.
What's the alternative to a robot vacuum? Doing it oneself? A cleaning service? Both alternatives are much more expensive for a lot of people. They're at a point now that saves people time and, at least indirectly, money.
one selects a transportation per the requirement (lowest cost per value), it could be a car or a train, within each category you have different features. robot vacuums have different features too (requirements).
and yes, I do agree that for majority of people a good handheld vacuum would give them the biggest bang for their $, and that is because their time is not as valuable as they think it is. but we all want to automate our tasks so that we do not have to do them, but instead we just occupy our time with something else that is useless.
My only concern is that a better model will always come out, and dont want to be obsolete later on. Doing research looking like hopefully this that ultimate robot vacuum and will not get obsolete in at least 2-3 years.
i do not see Tesla adding significant value for the price in contrast to what the competition has to offer (this is just my take). and I do not need to wait indefinably because when the technology is ready the price will be right. the EV market is just not ready, that is why Toyota is not jumping in . . . .
going back to your point about LiDAR . . . technology is progressive, new shiny things are constantly added to add real or perceived value. one must always understand the "need" from the "want", else they will be in the never ending chase trying to plug the void.
LiDAR is relatively new in the context of vacuum, as more competitors include the technology in order to be competitive the price will come down. take for example the cost of a smartphone, the truth is that from the hardware stand point a $100-200 phone can do what 90% of folks need. you can gravitate to a +$1K phone, and use mental gymnastics to justify the need, but the reality is that it's probably a "want".
While it definitely slows things down, the fact that the Dreame goes back to the dock to clean the mop heads and refill the bots water bin periodically means you'll end up with less dirty water dragging.

Buy whatever you like and see as value. You are not the early adapter type or one who likes to get the latest technology. That is perfectly ok. But that has nothing to do with this deal/sale. Can you find a better all-in-one vacuum / mopper with top end vacuum capability and self empty and self clean for $1059? If yes, please show a viable alternative, if not, then this is a good deal.

to you it would be an SD if they added a cat toy to it for additional $800, because after-all one would not be able to find a robo vac/mop cat toy at lower price than $1860.
to me it's an overpriced new cool looking swiss knife.

I had it vacuum and mop the 1100 sqft hardwood floor of my home every singe day at 6, on a schedule. Worked just perfect. I had to empty the dirty water tank and fill the clean water tank every 4 days, which was the only inconvenience. Still way better than anything else out there. Realistically you don't have to mop every day, but I have a toddler who meticulously picks all dirt from the floor and sometimes even kiss the floor, which is why I do it daily. The dust bag took 4 months to get full. Obstacle avoidance is really impressive and they send regular OTA updates. It has too many features included for the price and is a steal for ~$1000
