The reason for this price is that it has the option to plug an external GPU that Asus offer (XG Mobile RTX 3080, etc) using their proprietary adapter. That way if you ever want to upgrade the graphics, you can buy the graphics card only and not need to upgrade the laptop in the future.

It is also touchscreen with a miniLED screen with 360 degrees which is a first for gaming laptops.

Except the problem is that it's a MOBILE version of the RTX 3080 and it performs worse than many other RTX 3080 laptops. Then on top of that this laptop ALREADY has an RTX 3070ti on it. It would make sense if they took the Razor approach where maybe the laptop was a lighter, cheaper laptop that uses just an AMD APU for $1100-$1300 and then you can buy an RTX 3080 mobile external model for another $1000 (still hella expensive, but at least the XG Mobile also functions as a dock), but with this you're paying $2400 for the laptop with an RTX 3070ti and then another $1500 for the XG Mobile RTX 3080. That's almost $4000 just to have a folding monstrosity that performs worse than like every other RTX 3080 laptop out there.

I hope whoever the product manager was for XG Mobile at ASUS was fired for this horrible product.

It makes sense to have xg mobile for non dedicated gpu. No need for premium when it already has a 3070…
