Wouldn't this be better than the LG monitor (VA vs IPS) that was on Walmart for $200 too even tho this is sort of a no name brand?!?
there is no HDR on this particular model, so it really depends on what you're looking for. i think for 200 it's not a bad deal, but be forewarned:

i once tried 4 times in a row buying a monitor from monoprice, and despite their "pixel perfect guarantee" every single unit they shipped me had at least 5 dead/stuck pixels on it. the price and everything is always incredibly enticing, but you need to understand that brands like this, pixio, and a lot of others that seem way too good for the price are using b-grade panels that samsung sells wholesale to these companies to make their own housing for. the chance of you getting one that is actually flawless is slim to none, and these companies really bank on you not noticing.

There's a review on the site that helpfully confirms the stand can sorta rotate into portrait mode, except it's not tall enough for the screen to clear the table unless you put the base on a raised platform.

This is entry level IPS, possibly with b rate panels. It likely looks worse than LG's VA
Their site claims it "features an A+ grade panel", FWIW.

Can you also check if FTX can recover while you're at it? 😧
Yes it will. But only if more rubes buy vapor bitcoins with real money.

Solid deal but I'm going to hold too see if I can't do a little better on Black Friday.

I have never had an issue with monoprice. The open box monitor I purchased over a year ago had no dead pixels, and I have never read any evidence that monoprice is selling b-grade product. Then again, with 3 million pixels it is possible a couple are bad and I would never notice.

The specs look good for a casual gamer with a Series X, right? Only question is if it's HDMI 2.1 but the person I'm buying it for plays Fall Guys and Elden Ring, currently. Not a competitive, pro gamer by any means.

The price and size seem good since this person was torn between a TV or a monitor since it will be on their desk and they plan to connect their laptop to it too from time to time.
It has 2X HDMI 2.0 and 2X Display Port 1.2

No brightness listed on site. Any monitor brightness lower than 400 is not gonna be great.

Still a decent deal for a cheap starter monitor

I love monoprice monitors, I have 3 different, two 32" one curved, and one 49" dark matter ultra wide that has met every gaming need I've wanted and office productivity. Multiple inputs PIP for my 49". 32" my wife uses for work. The only catch is I typically ordered all of mine through target market place, so I could return it to a target store if I ever had a problem like dead pixels, which I have not.

Gaming with RTX 3090 @ 1440p 120hz has been great for me, I notice 80hz and below, but couldn't tell a difference much above 120hz. So the fact that his is 165hz awesome.

Best wishes.

Purchased their 34" UW one 1.5 years ago, and it had serious issue with backlighting and osd a few months ago. Return was easy and simple (about 2 weeks total time).

Really torn as to buy this or any of the comparably priced 32 inch 1440p 144hz-165hz monitors currently on SD, like the Walmart LG for $200. Being IPS with apparently quite good black levels according to a review posted by another member on page 1 seems promising. I'm leaning toward this one, but it's such a hard call!

The motion blur and smearing with blacks made me return the Costco model of the LG at Walmart. It was horrendous.
