How do you use a residential electric line to power this 165-Amp beast? Most houses are 200-Amp panels.

Amps are relative to volts for the same power. 120v*20A=2400W, 60V*40A=2400W, 30V*80A=2400W

I wouldn't buy this. Look for a used Lincoln Idealarc 250 or Miller Dialarc 250. Either of those machines will probably outlast you.

I have a Lincoln Welder (MIG), and a YesWelder (TIG/Stick) and both units have been great. I'm just a hobbyist typically doing house projects and working on vehicle fabrication. If you aren't running a full-time business or using for professional use the YesWelders work just fine.

What is a better more capable machine to learn on? My budget is $1,200 for everything including PPE.

The energy is stored in large capacitors that constantly recharge. Welders have duty cycles and will cut power when the amps aren't available so you can only weld in short bursts

Yeswelder is actually a decent budget brand. Go look up some of the reviews by Trial N Error on youtube. He does a couple teardowns of these units and they have decent parts on the inside.

I got the 120A when it went on sale for <$70 just to try another fabrication-related hobby and wish it had a bit more beans like this 165A from time to time. I'm not great at welding but I trust this generic imported product enough and Yeswelder looks to be genuinely trying to be a brand that might stick around on Amazon. I even got their auto darkening welding helmet and believe the ratings it comes with (in general never trust imported ratings ESPECIALLY regarding safety). Looking back I should've purchased the Yeswelder multi-process machine for like $200 more that can do it all just to save my limited garage space and for versatility (MIG, TIG, Stick) as I think it can do AC for stainless and aluminum, but I'm definitely happy with what I received for the price.

They are not all Chinese, this is a joint venture company. They have people involved in R&D, selling, and marketing in the US. They also listen to their customers and have made products because people were asking for them which no other company has ever done(7 in 1 and 5 in 1). So let's think about us the consumer for a second. Is a company that innovates and challenges the status quo on price and product capability good... yes.

They are liars, that address in Colorado... Guess you just haven't figure out how off shore business establish an "US business address". I got into their MP200 kickstarter. The machine doesn't output what it claims on stick mode and you can see this with an amp gauge. In mig mode the juice you get on .035 setting isn't correct, have to use it on .030 to get max output. Lift start tig is really scratch start.

I find it hard to believe no other company besides this Chinese company, a joint venture of wenzhoufuweideshang and maoyouxiangongsi , listens to customers and makes products for said customers.

More. Sometimes there's a reason to pay more.
