these chargers use the magnets on the bottom of the controller to charge, not the USB connection. however it still won't work with PS4 controllers.

No, but this does and works great for us. We have two, one for each room with a ps4. Kids would never charge them before, now they just place the controller on this and it charges. Best kind of charger as you only plug in the adapter once, and never have to plug anything in the controller again.

If you only have one controller, yes, just plug it into a cable. I was doing that fine with my ps4, until my kids got older and now we have 4 controllers that need to be charged. While it's certainly possible to have then plugged into 4 cables, using the dock charger is much easier and less messy.

I have two controllers but just put them right back into the dock when not being used so they are good to go. Maybe it's just me but I never had luck trying to charge a controller using an outlet plug.

I paid $30 for this two years ago. It's not as good as the PS4 controller - it takes some fiddling to get the controller to lineup and start charging, instead of just setting it on the charger any which way. Still totally worth it.

They're just ok. Doesn't go in perfectly the first time. Need to take 3-5 seconds/tries to fumble around and adjust make it attach perfectly to charge.

Does this not charge two controllers at the same time? I don't see my main controller charging when i place it on the station, but the 2nd one turned off does charge.
